Nausea?

Hi everyone,

No, I'm not pregnant........but I am nauseous almost every morning. For the most part, it subsides by afternoon. Sometimes it comes and goes. Could this just be another phase in mentalpause? :)

I also have very short, but intense episodes of dizziness. I don't know if its all related......but its definitely no fun!

Are you having allergies, sounds like you have a bit of vertigo. I have had that, but the drs always tell me that my tubes are filled with fluid (behind my ears) I am not sure what those are called. They blamed sinus drainage on the nausea. Who knows what they know. They told me to take a benydral for a couple of days before bed and see if that helps? It did. But it made me sleepy in the morning. So I took it about 8:30 in the evening instead of 10:00

I was thinking allergies too......but I have absolutely no other symptoms. My eustachian tubes used to stop up, but since I've been using a CPAP machine at night, they have been open and my sinuses feel great.
It sure does sound like some sinus thing though.
Actually, I started getting nauseous about a month ago, when I started using the CPAP machine at night.....which makes me really wonder about that connection......but it sounds like an uncommon side-effect from the CPAP machine.
I'm so tired most of the time, and I'd hate to get even more tired from Benedryl......but I think I'll do what you did and take it earlier in the evening. Thanks!

I drove back from Chicago this afternoon...ate "lunch" at 2:30 at Mc D's....it was awful. I was starving and in a hurry had been hung in construction forever adding almost an hour to my trip....so I elected fast and cheap...The cheeseburger has grisley bits and plastic cheese....and the fries were just awful. I debated just getting a bag of those cookies and a diet coke and wish I had. I have a neighbor who is often found coming back from "dinner" about 6:30....said we just ran out for a quick bite to ...one of the chain places on the highway... EWWW!! I would so much rather just fry up a couple of eggs and shake some bagged lettuce out of a bad ( bad as that is) and sprinkle with a little salt, olive oil and vinegar. But, I took my grand daughter out to lunch a couple of weeks ago to TGI Fridays, and we had a pretty good meal. I had the house salad which was not over dressed and a couple of skewers of broiled shrimp...it was nice. She had a burger and fries with the Jack Daniels sauce....too sweet by far, but the fries were good and she took 1/2 the burger home for her little brother....he'll eat anything!! Yep, soup base, plastic envelopes of salad dressing and gravy, frozen entrees, granulated potatoes....no wonder you feel nauseous.... Linda C

Hi catmandu, I had a fair amount of nausea during perimenopause. I think it was my kind of hot flash. Have you tried ginger tea? That's supposed to help, although it didn't help me much. I also developed GERD during perimenopause, and that can definitely cause nausea. Be sure to take probiotics and eat yogurt too.

I just want to say that NONE OF US are alone or crazy. My story is long... PMS started as a young teen and I had no idea what was going on. It eventually led to self-medicating, then to a slow and painful lifestyle of extreme addiction. Going on three years sober I'm grateful that I am now able to feel and understand my body to some degree. However (in a nutshell) since I hit my 40s - I'm now 42- the PMS has WORSENED. Not only the familiar severe anxiety that I have struggled with since a young teen but this horrible nausea that persists for up to two and a half weeks out of every month. I just started a birth control pill about a month ago and I'm praying that it works. I wish there would be more medical attention given to women's bodies and hormones and potential relief for some of the symptoms that are so debilitating. I have so many great things to be thankful for but I still don't feel like I can function at 100%, at least the hundred percent that I expect of myself! Thanks for listening. BTW I feel solid spiritually and I have a very healthy diet and exercise routine. Those help, I KNOW!! Any encouragement or suggestions welcome️

Ginger and vitamin B6 for nausea and motion sickness

Treating the symptoms of nausea Herbs: Ginger, peppermint, and anise are antispasmodic and can be used in tea or chewed raw. Chewing itself has a beneficial effect on nausea. Always use fresh ginger, as the dried ginger has lost its potency. Do not take candied ginger, as the sugar destroys B vitamins and thereby increases the nausea. If nervousness is a problem, catnip and other calming herbs can help, but they are also cause tiredness. Black Horehound (Balotta niger) but no indication of method of application. Magnets, but again no indication of method. Homeopathic remedy: nux vomica There is an acupressure point for nausea in your wrist. Feel in the middle of the inside of your wrist, about two finger widths down from the heel of your thumb. You should feel a small indentation. A bracelet for nausea is available. It is and elastic bands with a small plastic bubble is available. The bubble is placed on the acupressure point. You can make the bracelet by sewing a rounded button onto an elastic band. Avoiding travel sickness Avoid looking out the side of a moving vehicle. The rotating landscape increases the likelihood of nausea by causing dizziness. If you are travelling in a car or bus, try to get a front seat so you can look straight ahead. In a train, where you can only look out the side, focus on the horizon to avoid the visual rotation. In a boat, stay on deck and focus on the horizon. A single ear plug is supposed to work well, but the person who posted the hint did not remember whether it is supposed to go in the ear on the dominant side or in the other one. Treating the cause of nausea A vitamin B6 deficiency is usually the underlying cause of repeated bouts of nausea. The deficiency is also seen in the occurrence of cold sores and warts and bushy eyebrows. The vitamin is available in 250 mg and 100 mg. If the deficiency is pronounced enough to cause nausea, a vitamin B compound will not be sufficient. This vitamin is found in dark vegetables, green and red. It is destroyed by light. That is why you should never store or cook anything under glass lids or in transparent pots. And you should avoid produce which has been displayed under lights, expecially fluorescent lights. Besides taking B6 supplements and eating plenty of raw dark veggies, one of the best protections against travel sickness and nausea is the chewing of raw herbs like parsley, lots of it. Raw garlic helps greatly, but you have to take it regularly as a preventive measure. Do not take it when you feel the nausea.

I may be dumb and stupid, but here goes. I read your other post and I am concerned. You are having heart flip flops. In this post you are mentioning nausea. I just don't like the sound of that at all. I don't mean to be an alarmist but when I had my first heart attack those were my first symptoms. Have you had a Recent echo cardiogram or have they put a heart monitor on you for a 24 hour period to see what is going on with you???? My thought is better safe than sorry. Please don't get mad at me, I just waited too late and now I am sorry that I waited, because I had a major heart attack in 2000.

I'm not mad at you! And you're not dumb and stupid! I really appreciate your concern!
I have about a 10 year history of these funky flip flops, and have had 2 echos (although the last one was about 5-6 years ago). I have also had alot of GI problems.
I am able to do alot of work without the flip flops getting worse (If it were my heart, I would have trouble working hard, having more trouble breathing, etc.). But I do know that women have unusual symptoms with cardiac problems, so I'll definitely keep that in mind!

Hi rthummer, I have had flip flops for 5 or 6 years now I wore a monitor for 1 month! Of course it was like a car it just wouldnt make the noise when I brought it in to the shop! LOL I have had a necular stress test and the Dr.said I had more stamina than some 30 year olds on the treadmill. So Ihave tried to tie it to sugar, caffiene, anxiety and anxiety is the only one that comes close. Since some of us have generalized anxiety and dont know it. I just dont get it, I have even taken "the little purple pill" cuz the dr thought maybe it was reflux. Scary huh? It could be electrical? I appreciate each and every post on the forum. Thank good ness we have each other. I have thought of doing another heart saver ct scan, I had one done about 5 years ago. It is cheaper than it used to be and so easy. Oh and catherinet, my sister is going thru some nausea, she does have heart problems, but also 4 kids 10 grandkids and a pretty useless hubby! So we cant go by her symptoms. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!

When anyone mentions heart stuff I get in a tizzy. Sorry Catherinet. I just worry. shotzy52, I have had a nuclear stress test also. It says I am doing o.k. now. Heart disease runs in both my husband and my side of family. So I guess I am just apprehensive. Also, it looks like it has been inherited to my children. I quit taking hormones because I was afraid of heart problems and always question if I did the right thing.
