My vote is for # 2, I got almost the same ones as them from Target.com, for much less than pottery barn, very happy with them- and the price.

We just ordered the ones you showed from Pottery Barn a few months ago (in black, upon advice from this forum). They are very good quality, and have held up well for my two grubby little boys - lol! I think either the stained look or cream from PB would look nice with your kitchen. I am not seeing the same red color in your decor on my monitor as in the red stools.

Mine have backs- I have little kids that i didn't want falling backwards, they were 2 for $111, w/ free shipping. I was very surprised how good the quality was, they were made in ITALY and not CHINA- don't have to worry about lead paint with the kids and for that price I can justify replacing them in a couple of years when i get tired of them (which I know I will) Can I make another suggestion? Linens n Things has saddle stools for like 39 bucks in a darkwood stain they would go lovely w/ your cabs, AND you can use a 20% off coupon!

I think black would look much better than red with your cabinets. I'd shy away from the rush seats with kids.

Because of your railing bar stools are going to stick out in the walkway. Perhaps a saddle design would fit under the counter better.

My barstools have rush seats and they lived through two kids. Food just brushes off the rush. (Although truthfully my kids didn't sit at the island as much as I thought they would)

hi-agree no rush seats for chocolate milk to spill on. I like black also or the green. Look at Over...stock.com also-I did not but often they do have a selection

I think the black or green would be a better pick with your cabs. I agree that saddle seats may slide under your bar better, and they clean very easily!

What a beautiful, traditional kitchen you have--very timeless! That being said, I don't think those stools work with the style of the kitchen. I've been searching for something similar in a darker stain that won't stand out as much against the cabinets as the natural wood.

Linens'n Things has a stool that Polly929 suggested that is close to your cabinets and also another stool with a swivel seat that is upholstered and in the same stain, both were under $50 each and would work better in your kitchen, IMO.

Hey, did you look at Barstools, etc. while you were there?

I would think a rich green would be great, considering the colors in the living room right by the kitchen. Not sure I see the red working with the cabinet color.

I'm now leaning toward the second style of chairs, more tall and square than splayed and swivel.

Les, I did see some in Barstools Etc but at the time I thought "oh I'll get some cheap ones online." now I'm thinking I might just go back. I Think I agree that red isn't right now and green would be better.

Geez after all this I hope they sit on them!

Oh and I planned to lift them when storing so the front legs go behind that brass bar. I'm not sure *I* would have picked it but heck it's installed and right now I'll keep it.
