Here in Largo area-we have a weekly Sat & Sun flea market..HUGE! I believe there's a booth in section X, booth 100...that is called "Flea Market-a-holics". LOL!!! (not really-but if there was? I'd need to shop there!)

I would be if i lived in the south. You guys have flea markets everywhere. There is only one that is close by to me and it is not very good. So instead i AM a Garage Sale addict. I love garage sales! I will even stop at a sale if i only have a few dollars in my pocket. You never know what you will find.

There is a big flea market (indoor and out) not too far from me on Sundays. It's a fun thing to do, but we only go maybe twice a year.

There's a big one in Memphis the third weekend of every month. I started going there in the early 1970s and never missed one of them until about the mid 1990s. Most of the real craftsmen are no longer there and there are only so many t-shirts and purses I want to look at. I still go occasionally to see if a new vendor may be there. Since I'm retired I plan to go to some in Nashville and Birmingham and some others within three to four hours away from home and see if I can find any I like. I do buy t-shirts and cheap purses, but that's what Wal Mart is for.

I used to be, but I've recovered. LOL It was hard for me to pass up a junktique store a couple of years ago. Seems like it ran it course though and I hardly ever think about it. I enjoy a stroll through ever so often though, don't get me wrong.

Sue ~ I've been to the World's longest yard sale before, but didn't go but a few miles. The other one is new to me. Maybe one day I'll check it out, but I prefer a good ol' timey flea market to a yard sale. There is a huge yard sale in a suburb of Memphis every September. I lived in the area when it first started. It was nice to have a parking space. I have a friend who lives there now. She told me I could come with her this year if I wanted to and park in her driveway. We can walk around and if we buy anything big her dh will come meet us with his pickup truck. I really don't want any more stuff though. I just like to look.

Trouble is - with a car-full ... where ya gonna put the stuff? After the trunk ... most folks' laps are only so wide!

Twenty years ago DH and I went to Fleas all over the Northeast-Kutztown Pennsylvania, Brimfileld Mass, Clarence NY,Atlantic City, etc. We had great fun. Got all sorts of "bargains". Anything we could fit in nour catr. Our house is now filled to the gills and we have no more room for antiques and collectibles.

I can totally PASS on the Flea Markets that have the new stuff, i.e. tube socks, t-shirts and keychains. I thrive on the JUNQ of yesteryear (and yet- don't decorate that way OR have a basement- so why?) There's definitely something psychological that goes on. Last month I bought a dozen valentines cards from the '30's. So sweet looking and signed by someone with loving intentions 70 years ago...
I took my mom to Lakewood 5-6 years ago and it was a miserable experience. All she could say (and to the COOLEST STUFF) was, "Oh we had one of those, I gave it (or) threw it away." [sigh]

I used to love the local flea market, but as others have said, they are now filled with so much junk. I bought some of my original hostas at our flea market, but nothing like that any more.

The flea markets in my area are all either total junk or cheap new stuff that is lacking in quality. I used to love them but have been too disappointed lately. I used to be a garage sale addict but our house is too full now. Last year I didn't even go to one garage sale including my next door neighbours. You could say I am recovered.

Ditto what Ninos said. Plus I love to go to Hamfests with my son every summer. These are basically flea markets for ham radio operators. He shops the ham equipment, and I check out used books, DVDs, and odd little things.

I think that you CAN get some really cool stuff at flea markets. Unfortunately, around here Vancouver, B.C., alot of the items are stolen/hot just like at the pawn shops.

I love good flea markets that sell junk and not so much new stuff and clothes, altho there is one here that sells mostly
new stuff, appliances, clothes, etc...mostly hispanics...but once in awhile there will be a good buy on a piece of junk because they really aren't interested in stuff like that usually.

I like yard sales, estate sales, auctions, dumpster diving, curb shopping. I am mostly into stuff for the garden now, since I've filled my house a few times over, but I won't turn down a neat piece of junk for the house.

Last week I found two old faux bois planters. I had to think "WWMD?"

Ha! Not really. (What would Martha do?) Martha collects faux bois...fake wood...made out of cement.

I jumped at them for $10 for both.

WE SOOOO...need a flea market run...as soon as I'm driving again...I'm making the trek north!

I dont like flea markets.We call it flea sh%t.I like antiques.

First Monday in Canton, Tx is supposed to be the largest in the country. You can't possible see it all in one day. My DD#1 goes every month and has gotten some wonderful things. It's quite an experience and people come from all over the US for it.

Have one in Shipshewana,Indiana we go to several times a year. The whole town is a tourists town right in the middle of an Amish community
