Assuming you changed the battery in the handset? We have the Uniden set, two bases, two phones. We have caller ID, and memory. Like them pretty well, have only changed the batteries a couple times in the last 2-3 years.

I dislike the shape of them.
You can't comfortably hold the phone between your shoulder and face like you could older phones...they are straight with no curves in them.

We had, once, a two phone set and I hated it.
We could NEVER find a phone as both would get laid down somewhere, the batteries would die......

On the other hand it's not so bad when nobody can call you...LOL

I have found the cheapest phones work and last just as long as the more expensive phones. I paid twenty dollars for the V-Tech we're using now. I've had it nearly a year and with cordless phones, imo, one year is approaching the golden age...

Don't care for cordless--far too many disadvantages, not enough advantages.

Agree--don't like the 'feel' of them. Nor the price. Nor the fact that they always seem to end up getting misplaced.

Also--you still have to have a corded phone in the house. In the case of an emergency--a power outage for example--you wouldn't be able to use the cordless. And I cannot tell you how many times a day, my husband hears, "You just cut off my phone!"--he's an electric company collector and DOES NOT cut phone service, but with a lot of these fancy phones, no electric means no phone service.

A corded phone still works if the power goes out. So it's a good idea to have both, if your family feels the need of a cordless.

My cordless died and my DS #2 plugged in his cordless. It is camouflage and the ringer can be set to sound like a coyote howling, or any other number of wild animal calls. LOL I hardly ever use it because I use my cell phone most of the time. It is basic without an answering machine or caller id. I'm not much of a phone person, so I don't really care what I have. *S*

I have a Panasonic Wall Mount cordless in the kitchen. I don't remember how old it is. I may have bought it when I moved here 41/2 years ago, or I may have brought it with me. Also don't remember what I paid for it, but maybe $25-$30. It is programmable. It works fine, even after I dropped it, twice, hard enough to break off the little antenna. Just a couple months ago I had to get a new battery; cost $15.

I also have a $15 VTech cordless from WalMart in the computer room, hooked up to the answering machine. It is also programmable.

My oldest phone is an ATT&T corded radio/clock/telephone that I have had "forever". I wouldn't give that one up for anything. It is in my bedroom.

Good phones are available now that have every feature you could want, and they aren't too expensive. Google and check them out.

I have an AT&T phone/answering machine w/ one cordless handset. The handset has good sound quality, but it won't take a charge anymore. Guess I have to get a new battery or a new phone. The deskset always had transmitter problems. People can barely hear me talking, and now it blinks in and our like a cell phone. I lose the transmitter intermittently. Of course, I really don't know if that problem is the phone or the Comcast phone service. Have a tech scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. Paid $100 3 or 4 years ago.

Also have a VTech wall mount in the kitchen that verbally announces the caller. One of my helpers broke the phone so now it is tricky to use it. Doesn't announce anymore either. Really liked this one and hope to find a similar one.

Not at all familiar with models that are available right now.

I have 2 Uniden both must have gone out at the same time. Wierd. I use my Cell so much I don't know when they went out. LOL!

I'm in the market for replacements.

I like my Uniden. I'm not sure what I have in the bedroom, but the kitchen is a cordless wall mount with the answering machine built in. ID capable, but we don't buy the service from the phone company. Has programable memeory. I wore out the first and bought another one just like it.

I had a uniden. It was easy to hold on my shoulder. But the base went out since we moved here (2004). Sometime after that, we got a panasonic. This time, three cordless.

Can't hold it on my shoulder easy, but it has speaker phone capability, and I like that.

I have three handsets, one main unit mounted on the wall in the kitchen, and two charger bases in the other rooms where the phones live.

All our phones usually make it back to where they belong. However, we do have a "search" function, where we can beep any of the three, and they beep till we turn it back off. Great option.

The uniden would only beep for about 5 beeps.

Nother option I like, I can copy any number I program in a handset to any/all other handsets.

Jerry found them online, cheaper than at SAMS. That's all I remember about them. I could search for the manual and receipt, and will if you need more info.

I like my Uniden. The corded one was a must have when the power was off for 6 days, then the cordless unit also. Being at work right now, I don't know the model.

I knew I could count on you guys for good reviews...along with the input here, I have read review after review on line today.
Considering what we need and want and discounts available through my employer, I think the Panasonic has won my heart. Here is a pic of the phone and info from Walmart web site. I really like info I found about the batteries and consider it another bonus... this model uses AAA rechargeable batteries instead of those darn things you can never find! Thank again for your input...

I love my cordless phone. The only problem is it needs a new battery about every two years. It has a rechargeable battery that just fails and refuses to take a charge.

We have a Radio Shack cordless with two phones. We've had it for a couple of years now and it's been good so far. It has all the features you want and didn't cost an arm and a leg (DH wouldn't pay very much for a phone).

Since you are thinking panasonic, I decided to look for my paperwork.

Mine is a KX-TG5433. I just googled, and found it (three handsets) for $140.00+.
