It may well be - however, be warned that this is a hard time to be trying to get good value if you're a private person looking to sell. it's damned fine work (the layers on the flower petals boggle me) and slightly yellowing is acceptable in older pieces. you can wash it, gently, by laying it in the tub with warm water and a tiny bit of shampoo or detergent for delicate fabrics, and letting it soak for about 10 minutes. oddly enough, the best whitener? is sunlight an chlorophyll, so if you have a CLEAN lawn, or a nice soft bush to drape it over, that's not a bad way to dry it. this one, by the way, looks as if it's been very lightly used - the thread has not 'fuzzed' at all from being washed, and it looks like it still may have sizing in it (they were often starched after drying)

Orchid, Eric was my son's classmate in law school and a good friend of my son's good friend. He is a lawyer now in the Midwest. He found this tattered and incomplete cloth when he cleared out his mom's house and asked my son for help finishing it. My son told me about it, and when someone on THS found the pattern for me, I volunteered, quite foolishly. When I emailed him to tell him it was almost completed and to ask him for his current address, I learned he had been in an awful skiing accident 6 weeks earlier. He took a spill on the slopes, and realized as he waited for help that he was paralyzed from the neck down. He was flown to a trauma hospital, had surgery and physical therapy, and is now recovering so well and so quickly that he is amazing his doctors. He said his mom had been working overtime from heaven to help him and me too. So this cloth arrived at a time when he could really appreciate it. And he is very appreciative of my efforts. He knows how long it took me he says because he remembers his mom crocheting projects that took her years. Her stitches were so tight and so fine that I can imagine that she had to limit her time crocheting to spare her hands. Do you have a partial cloth that needs to be finished too?
