Is There a Kitchen Table Chat Room?

Sometimes just reading the posts is not enough! I would really enjoy being able to join in a chat every now and then with KT'ers. Is there such a thing?

There used to be one called The KT Nightowls. I went there a few times a couple of months ago, and nobody was ever there. I just tried going there again, and it said it's closed.

I got right in to KT Nightowls - so I don't think it is closed.

I haven't been for a very long time. I am talking to myself in there right now....hellloooooo...

This is going to be a weird question, but is your room where the table is going more square or more rectangular. I ask because as someone who purchased and resold several tables before settling on the one I currently have (thank you Craigslist!), I found that a round table in a more rectangular area just doesn't seem to work well - the proportions are off. Now if you have a squarish open area for the table, you'll be good (and even if the room is rectangular, if a buffet or hutch or something is filling up one of the ends so that the area where the table goes is squarish, I think you'll be good. I don't remember if there was pic of the area in your last thread. But anyhow, it's just something to consider. Out of all the ones you posted, I like the first one the best.

Yes - the "chat rooms" are on the Home forums side of the website - Kitchen Table (KT), Hot Topics ( HT) and Home Decorating Conversations. Those are all very much chatty forums - that's ALL they are - but typically will have little or nothing to do with gardening. All the garden forums can be very chatty - some of the threads have gone on for years!! You just need to pick an area of interest and start there. And present a topic folks are wanting to actively chat about!!

How about putting a rectangular table right up against the sofa back. If you search kitchen table behind sofa there are some nice looking options that may allow you to keep the space closer to the kitchen open. You could even treat the back of the sofa like a banquette with a bench and pillows...

Put a table 30" from a wall. Add a chair with a person sitting in it and pretend you are sitting on the window side of the table and need to get up and head to the bathroom or kitchen. How difficult is it for you or someone who may be larger than you to get past the person sitting at the end of the table? I'm a visual learner so I'd want to see a "mock" up of the dining room table and actually try it.

But unless someone calls out to go to chat there isn't anyone there...

No set time for chat.

Years ago there was a site called Talk City and a lot of KTer's and KTTer's went there on a set night.

I guess I had 2 site marked as a favorite for the Night Owl chat room. I found the right one and deleted the other.

I was on a couple of times today but no one was on this afternoon. Maybe when someone wants to chat we could make a thread that says something like, "Let's Chat" with a link?

It might be fun - I think we'd have to agree on a certain time of day.
eveyday around 10 pm EST? or a different time? That way if we knew someone would be there we could pop in whenever.
