I had the edges of my sink cutout finished to use as a trivet on my wood island (if I ever get my top made). However, the granite guy didn't listen (he didn't listen about much, this was one example) and he finished the entire thing rather than cutting it down to 18x18 as I asked. It's so big I can't lift it. It's in the basement.

we had a beveled edge cut on our sink cutout and use it as a cutting board, works great and we dont have to worry about doing anything to the counter tops. You might also find a table(or make one) or small wash stand that could use a granite top. If all else fails sell it on Ebay..LOL

while a granite cutting board would look very attractive, you may want to think twice about that since it will dull your knives very quickly. If you can get it cut into smaller pieces, you can use it as a cheese cutting board -- nice presentation and cheese knives are generally fairly dull already.

I had the 36" soapstone cutout from my countertop cut into two squares. The edges were smoothed and finished, ad they're now the tops on two side tables used on the patio. A local ironworker made bases into which the two slabs fit perfectly. They look splendid in the garden!

Alas, the garden furniture is stored away for the winter. I can't get to the small tables because they were among the first things that went into the shed. The big tables and other stuff are stacked in front of them. If you'd care to check back with me in April, when the furniture is back out, I can oblige.

I had a bathroom vanity top, a kitchen above-range shelf, and an electrical switchplate made from various pieces.

My granite fab'r also made a small cutting board/cheese board that has a very slightly curved (concave or convex -- I always get them mixed up -- bulging out in the center) base so it can spin around.

We had ours in a bed in our yard with a small garden statue on it. It looked tacky so now it's in our garage with all the other stuff that needs to be tossed. Unless it's used as a table top, I don't know what else can be done with it.

I had an 18" by 18" butcher block cut out built in to my old countertop. It was in the way since it sat on a metal inset. I had the granite folks make one out of the cut-out piece that matched the butcherblock size. It has been perfect for cutting veggies, etc, and MUCH easier to clean than the butcher block. Plus it adds some punch to the countertop and has been a real conversation piece! They didn't charge for doing this either - PERFECT!!

I still would love to see it. Spring and April are only two months away. Spring can't come soon enough for me especially after the two winters we have had.

Cutting board or small table for plant: Best thing I have next to my stove: I set my olive oil, cooking spoons and spices on a raw edged piece of granite. Cutting board is good: but cutting on granite will dull your expensive knifes! that's on the do's and don't list ! lol!

Keep it! You can take a hammer and a chisel and make the edges raw and make a small table top. It's yours don't throw away.
(If you have 3 cm (1 1/4"): not fun to cut down to size for inserts for the splash. best to buy 12x12 piece of granite and have cut up in 2x2 pieces for splash.)

Our fabricators used part of our extra to make us a lazy susan. You could also use it to make a small coffee table. That's what DH originally wanted to do, but we didn't have enough extra.

We used ours on bathroom vanity that is in the hall close to the kitchen. It worked out perfect.

I went to a party at a Four Seasons hotel recently, and they used raw-edged granite slabs to stylize a buffet-- they set glasses on it.
