I'm having a hard time picturing WTs in your room as well, given the unfortunate placement of your french door. The french door would need to be treated symmetrically and, given the proximity of the FP on RHS, the WTs would then need to obstruct the door on the LHS. I really don't think you need them in that room. If I were to add anything to your lovely room, I'd add a rug.

Windows look great as is. Drapes would really crowd things.

You could also do without them on the door, its a door with glass in it but it's still a door, not a window.

I think it could add some softness and pattern and since the elevation isn't symmetrical anyway, you wouldn't be breaking symmetry.

Drapes on both might also emphasize that the top of door and window aren't the same height--they usually aren't.

I can't see them on just one door myself. I think your room is beautiful as is. I'd just get a bigger light fixture. Is the armoir new? It's pretty!

I think you should just put the drapes on the windows. Perhaps put a small rug with the same colors at the door to carry the colors. I love those drapes also.

I love those drapes too and was even thinking of getting them but turning them into seat cushions. (I decided to order others that are already made from PB) I am going to go off on a limb here. Would you consider buying the drapes (since you can not get this fabric by the yard) and have them turned into romans?(Switch them back when you tire of the fabric) I love the bamboo but I understand your desire for color up there and understand comepletely how hard it is to find fabric that you love. We can already see how great the romans look on both the door and window. IMHO if you just do the window it will look off balanced because of how they are both positoned.

I've loved those drapes ever since kmcg first posted them. I'd definitely use the drapes on the windows and something else on the doors. None of the colors go in my house or I'd strongly consider getting them.

You could do drapes on windows, and matching roman shades on door (buy extra drape & have sewn as a roman)

I like the PB curtain idea but think you dont need to do anything to the door- 'cause it's a door. the wood shades tie them together.

OMG Scooby! As I was reading and before I scrolled down, I thought my PB drapes would look great in your room! Swear! And then I see your thoughts and my windows, wow! Yes, yes, to the drapes although I can't answer about the little corner that causes so many dilemmas! Running out the door, but I will be back to read what the suggestions are!

I think the idea of drapes and a roman on the doors is a good one! I've been in a room similar to your with drapes on a window and romans on the door and it looked fine.But, I also like the idea of romans on all! Hmmm? I think the reddish color would work with the pheasant chairs too.

I like the panels, and I'd try them on both the window and door. From what I can see, the door opens on the other side, so the fireplace door doesn't open. You might have to cover up some of that door though.

Otherwise, I'd not replace your blinds - you just got them. I'd go with panels first on the window and then you can always add them to the door if it looks odd.

While I like the drapes, I would leave the windows and door as they are. I don't think drapes will work or look right on the door area, and your challenged with the fireplace placement. Also, I don't think I would like the look of the drapes on the window and the door left alone. So, my vote would be no to the drapes. Beautiful room!

I agree with caminnc and others. I would do the curtains at the window, but not the door. I may actually have to do something similar thing in my Living Room.

Tack a gathered sheet in place where you would hang the drapes and see how it feels. That might help visually for you to see how it looks. And don't forget to show us ;)

Ohhhhh divided responses!! Let me see if I can dig up some old photos where I had drapes on the windows & a "faux" roman shade on the doors. I was kinda ~so so ~ on it.

I just love the look of woven romans & panels so much. Wish I didn't have that wonky FP!!

Val, I am looking at samples now for a rug. Maybe I should do a rug first. I have to have it custom made 8x14 is what I'm figuring.

Hi there - you have a beautiful room! I also love it as it is. Those are really pretty panels though and if you *must have them!* I would only put them around the window and leave the doors as they are.

I love your home. The room is gorgeous as it is...but I understand that we all want a change from time to time. How about panels at each end of the window, and one stationary panel on the door mounted on a short rod next to the fireplace. Beautiful home!

I like what you have there, but LOVE the drapes you showed. I think the suggestion of drapes for the windows, romans for the french doors would look wonderful in your room!

I love love love layered window treatments, so I think if you added drapes it would look fab. It would really cosy up your room.
Exactly how much room do you have by the fireplace?? You could have grommets put in the tops of the drapes, then when they are open they fold back very nicely and take very little room.
I have a similar situation in my DR and I put grommet top drapes on the slider and it works very well.
