Yes, it definitely should be centered. Is there a particular reason why it is more to the left?

I thought it should be centered but wanted verification/opinions from all of the smart Garden Web people. My husband didn't think it should be "in the corner" by the door going out to the garage. Bless his heart, he has an Ed.D (similar to a Ph.D but in education) but he doesn't understand decorating ~ he tries!!

Centered would be better, tho it isn't awful where it is.

I think that perhaps the piece is too large for the space, tho. It seems that it would show better with a little more wall space around it, and less competition visually from the doors, frames and hinges.

Something narrower, or two/three smaller pieces hung one over the other, would be a nice alternative.

I think it looks fine, but it's hard to judge without a picture that shows more of the room.

It's a beautiful grill on a beautifully painted wall, but it would drive me bonkers not being centered. JMHO! LOL

Attached are two additional pictures of the metal artwork in our kitchen. The door on the left is to the laundry room and the door on the right goes to the garage. We completely gutted and are finally finishing a complete gut/remodel of a poorly cared for foreclosure home and I want everything to be "just right" (if that's possible~LOL).

Not to be contrary, but I think it is too large for that wall.

Vote #3 for too large for the space.

It doesn't look awful, but the piece doesn't have enough wallspace there. It's like putting Keith Urban in the back corner of the stage...not a good thing. ;)

I like the piece on the wall, but if you can get him to rehang it centered it would be better. And I think it is a guy thing, my DH has said much the same thing about "in the corner" ?!

The additional pix confirm for me that the piece feels too large for that spot. Do you have another place that it can hang where it will have some 'breathing room'?

As for 'just right', don't worry about that, as there is no such thing. Decorating is subjective, and in the end you should do what pleases you (and your DH, except for corners LOL).

If you are happy with the piece there, then keep it there. A perfect example of no such thing as 'just right', as several of us would move it, others think it will be fine there, once centered.

I'm going to cast my vote for keeping it there, but not only centering it, but also LOWERING it a bit more (just to make more of a break with the tops of the two doors).

In the picture it looks almost as wide as the doors and in my eye actually emphasizes the doors. I like the idea les had earlier about 2 or 3 smaller items hung vertically in that space---much more interesting with the more drastic change in size in that space.

Speaking as a husband, I vote to leave it the way it is. Good job, husband!

1) I would like to see it on a bigger wall.
2) If there isn't a bigger wall then centered would be better design wise.
3) *But off centered, where it is could be a reminder that hubby loves you.

I think it is to big for that spot. In the pics that are further away it seems to make the door look bigger also.

I already weighed in, but just wanted to say, frenchdressing I like the way you think. There are a few things in our home that remind me that my DH loves me. They may be a tad too high or not quite the right spot whatever, but they stay.

Beautiful job! That is a very lovely piece, just not for that corner. IMO (you asked, LOL) I would not only consider a narrow set of objects (multiples), I would also consider something such as a wreath, to soften the space.

I have three-four wreaths in my kitchen. :)

You know, that piece looks almost like a window to me; could you hang it in a window or use it as a room divider above a counter?

I'm in the minority here, but i kind of think it's charming just as it is.
