Is it easy to remodel kitchen after installing granite?

So we are building our forever house and i am torn between cooktop and range...I dont bake that much so right now i am leaning toward range. I am just not crazy of the "wall of ovens look" ...but i am worried that if i ever decide its too hard to bend or that i want double ovens it will be expensive and difficult to break granite countertop..is it?

You are locked in to one or the other unless you do extensive remodeling. It's not just the granite. A wall oven and cooktop needs two extra cabinets. If you get a standard sized range, you can always replace it with a more capable range down the road. If you leave a 30" space, maybe just a plain 30" base cabinet, a skilled carpenter can retrofit a single wall oven below counter later if you want to add a second full sized oven. Or do what I and millions of others do and buy a convection toaster oven. I can roast a chicken in it if I want to, or bake brownies, or whatever. And it can be stored away in the pantry when it's not needed.

I am a fabricator. catheliz - you are right in expecting the 2 corners to be the same. this is a mistake by the fabricator and they seem to be acknowledging it. it's an easy mistake to make. we've done it ourselves. A good fabricator can turn the radiused corner into a 90 degree inside corner. if the edge has a complex shape like Ogee or FV30 it would take an exceptionally good fabricator to make the corner look right. if it a shape like a flat or simple radius then it's very do-able. there will be dust and water but if the fabricator takes adequate care the mess should be contained to a very small area. my 2 cents.

honing granite after installation

Will have marble restoration company hone the cambrian black granite counter already in my kitchen. Anyone have this done? Also unable to get cambrian black granite for perimeter of kitchen so trying to match up with other granite. Do not like the shine so thought it would be easier to match up if honed. Any experience with this ? Thanks, draco2

Don't have them attach the DW directly to the granite. Many DWs can be attached to the side cabinets - if not then have them glue a strip of wood to the underside side of the granite and attach the DW there. Removing the DW with the granite on isn't a problem as long as you didn't put new flooring in front of the DW that would prevent it from sliding out.

My fabricator usually recommends 24. Depending on the silicone used for the rim seal, I can see some wanting 48. I think as long as your fabricator uses a proper mechanical means of fastening the sinks to the counters, it should be fine. The silicone merely acts as a seal And the plumber won't be able to jostle things if they are held tight with a Sink Setter, or HUSH. If he uses an adhesive as the only means of attaching the bowl to the stone, you've got other issues that need to be addressed. Ask him how he plans to fasten your sink to the stone, and see what he says.
