Would you buy your Cabinets Online??? MKFUSA?

So I've been reading about a few of you that are considering ordering your cabinets online through Meramec Kitchens (MKFUSA) and so I'm wondering:

* Do you worry about them coming in wrong and needing to return them? How would that work?

* Does the manufacturers warranty still apply?

* Are you using a KD at all?

* Did you look at the brands in local stores and pick out your stains with them first?

* How much do you think you saved?

* If you ordered online already - can you tell me how the experience went (will my nerves kill me)?

* Do any of you know if Meramec is reputable?

* Would any of you recommend another site?

In response to your next to last question, I did a search on the Better Business website and they show that they have a rating of B+ on a scale of A to F. The business is not a registered member of the BBB,but they do rate some businesses.

Maybe someone else can help with the other questions.

Yeah you could get a kd to help you but they wouldn't be responsible if doors came in marred up and had to be returned plus isn't the whole point of doing it online is to save the money of a kd?

I ordered from crown point but i talke dto customers who had used them in the past, they were able to send me several sample doors for approval, cabinets were shipped via a moving company. I paid half down and the other half at delviery after full inspection of the cabinets. I had a kd over the phone who spent many hours with me and faxed me many pictures before i actually placed the order and I defiantely didn't save any money...crown point is expensive

however, if all you are needing are 3 little cabinets for a laundry room or something, i think online would be fine

Okay, I'm finally getting around to posting more pictures. I wasn't sure what would be helpful so I included some more cabinet fronts and some that show inside details. This is a super susan with drawer base next to it. (notice the 3 beautiful new outlets & the puppy butt :) This is the inside of the super susan. The top shelf still has the tan vertical stabilizer attached - that was for shipping. LOVE this cabinet. Here's the top-down view of the 15" drawer base with a drawer pulle dout - you can see the blumotion. This is the pot & pan base 36" Here's the inside of the drawer: This is the dark cherry 24" upper cabinet: This is a bottom profile view of the Fridge end panel. You can see how the stile front joins the side panel to create a furniture-end outside panel. This is a 24" drawer base (that I can't get to rotate!). It's cherry, toffee finish in the Beacon Hill line. Has nice beading around the drawer which doesn't show up well. This is for the dressing room. Let me know if you want to see anything else : )

I'm a little late, but I thought I'd respond since I'm actually looking into this right now. We will probably only be in our home another two years, so our main concern with our cosmetic updates is resale. We want something that looks nice but is affordable. It doesn't need to be over-the-top custom, but there are definitely certain things I want while we're still living there and it should be a "wow" factor of the house. I came across an old post from this forum which led me to the MKFUSA website mentioned in an above post. I spent all weekend coming up with a design I think will really work for us, but unless I want to spend $100, MKFUSA won't look at my design and give me input. The $100 is refundable of course if I buy cabinets from them, but at this point I'm so confused on the pricing that I have no idea what they would cost or if it's worth it to send in my design. The bottom line for me? Yes, I think there are plenty of people out there in my position who would buy online IF: -Great color photos (in the form of downloadable/printable PDFs) were available to show door styles, paint/stain colors, specs, and showroom kitchen examples -The pricing, including shipping, was straightforward and easy to understand -Contact information was readily available for questions/concerns -Some type of design consultation/review, even at a charge so you're not constantly wasting your time, so that once my order is placed, I can feel confident I've ordered all the pieces I need -Door samples could be ordered and then shipped back, free of charge, for a refund of whatever you charged to send them (in other words, price should include shipping so everybody wins-- obviously you would need to limit how many could be sent at a time and work out other kinks...) -Ideally-- and this is something you might not do right away but could consider adding down the line-- there would be some type of simplified kitchen design sofware on the website where people could set up a room of their size, and then basically drag and drop windows, outlets, cabinets, etc... to get a 3-d view of what their design might look like. I'm decent at doing scale drawings of mine, but I have to assume I'm doing it right. Software that shows what we're drawing right from your site would be ideal! It's like you said-- times are tight right now, and I feel a little crazy for even spending money on a remodel right now, but we have the cash and are ready to go. In fact, I'm not sure if our budget would fit with your cabinets, but if you want a "guinea pig," just let me know! Good luck with your business!

Hi we're a family run composting manufacturer, we've been trading for over 25 years, we supply garden centres with our products nationwide, we are very passionate about our composts and believe we have a market leading product range, but we have often struggles to get noticed due to our limited capacity for marketing. We have recently decided to start trying to sell some of our products through Amazon (our Horse compost and Mushroom compost) as we have seen other people having success. We sell single bags of compost which in all honesty is impossible to compete with garden centres on price, this is due to the weight of the product and the cost/fees associated with this, but we can offer bulk deals on 25 and 50 bags, with this we can be competitive on price and its delivered to your door, which is a great benefit to many people. It would be great to know whether gardeners would be open to buying there bulk compost on Amazon. Amazon seems to sell everything these days so we thought this was our best option as we don't have the resources to create our own selling platform at the moment. Any feedback on this would be great. Did you have to pay for the KD costs separate? The lumber yard I'm considering going with said that they don't charge for measuring or layout, only the cabinets (they don't install them either). In fact, they said that after they give me the layout and quote it is my decision whether or not to order through them. I plan on taking my layout and getting comparison quotes from another lumberyard and Home Depot - just to make sure I'm in the same ballpark. If they are head and shoulders above the others, I will consider not purchasing from them. I guess the on-line purchase wouldn't be much different - right?

We're planning on ordering from this company. All my interactions have been positive so far with good followup on their behalf, both on the phone and via email. I requested a cabinet sample block and it was sent quickly. (It cost about $15). We're going with the Starmark (same name as Fieldstone) line. I visited a local showroom and was very impressed by the quality.

We're not using a kitchen designer. I think there's an option on their website for them to help with the design though.

Among other things I think they can keep their prices low because you (the customer) write up the cabinet numbers on the order form (which is very time consuming and tedious). But it saves them from having to do it.

I'm not too worried about the online process or them sending the wrong cabinets. (Not saying it couldn't happen, I'm just willing to take that chance!)

Curious to know other people's thoughts/experiences, too!

If they did send the wrong cabinets, or there was a flaw in them - would you pay the shipping to send them back?

Well, personally, I would expect that if there is a flaw or a mistake made on their end, that the company would pay to send them back, and that they would correct their mistake. It's in their best interest to make sure that the order is correct in the first place. It's a reasonable question though - why not just ask MKFUSA what their policy is?

Hi missmuffet,
Have you decided if you're going to go with MKFUSA? We are also considering them.
I believe if a flaw was found after opening the box, they would replace it or the part that was defective.
