Terrible Two-some Get-Together: EJ & Terri

I just got back from the Pacific Northwest....and didn't get to spend near enough time with our own, growing in visiting popularity, and my swap partner, terri_pacnw! (You know you're card carrying certifiable when you plan your vacations around what CF members you can visit and not drive your family crazy).

This past Friday, I followed on Ellen's heels and got to hang with Terri. Between our ferry being late and our GPS taking us the wrong way, we lost about an hour of play time. I was REALLY hoping to help her do some canning but all I got to do was wash and cut up some beets! We recognized each other immediately and like all forum get togethers, it was as if we were old friends who hadn't missed a beat (or beet....).

We talked food, family, forum and the time FLEW! I miss you already, gee I guess I'll have to come back up to spend some more time and get some real work done. Your island is BEAUTIFUL and I'm jealous of all the summer bounty! I got to meet her DH and two of her kids, and her Australian Shepherd.

Thanks Terri for making time for me!

Awe thanks Jessica! It was great to have you hang out. No worries on the canning..I still need to get those beans done though.

the last time i baked a chocolate something, it was sol's version of MLCs. OMG is close to the right description... if that chocolate budino is anything close, i'd suggest you make a batch specifically for your poor mother in law, SS. not a doubt in my mind she'd be feeling much better, very quickly! best wishes to you both! western pa luann - I'm starting to prefer the trunks in the center, too. Thank you for your response. maryanne3 and rob333 - Thanks for letting me know about using two hooks per print. For these 27" prints, how far apart should the two hooks be? graywings - another good suggestion from you! I could forget about using the wires and use one sawtooth hanger at the top. You are correct that these canvas prints are MUCH lighter than prints in a regular frame with glass. These 27" prints weigh about 4 lbs. each. Thank you for the pic and for the link. If I go this route, I'll probably want to get the large size. robin4444 - Thanks for the pic of the abstract print in your living room. I love your bookshelves, fireplace, and the way the colors in the print pick up the colors in your room. Whether I end up doing a shelf or hanging, I can see the value of being able to swap the tree prints depending on what mood makes me feel best. I do wonder what the artist intended. These prints were not sold as a "set". There was no photo example of them together on the site I purchased from. The print with the trunks on the left is titled Golden Birch I With Blue Sky. The print with the trunks on the right is titled Golden Birch II With Blue Sky. If using "the way we would sequence and read" thought...one could say that the print titled with I should be on the left side. Print titled II should be on the right side. If hanging them with that logic, it would put the tree trunks on the outside. But sometimes logic needs to be set aside and how one feels relating to art should be the guide. I feel like trying to contact the artist James Wiens. Is that possible? I'm so curious, now. Lilylore - I like the way you describe how each orientation makes you feel. Trunks inside - disturbing, interesting, possibilities. Trunks outside - resolved, calming, charming. Thank you, as always, for your thoughtful insights.

I love Arhaus and would shop with them, but they don’t do in store pick up and the shipping to my area is just not worth it. Got ready to purchase a bed and the cost to get it to me was $300. I’m going to need 3 stools and most everything comes in pairs or outside that practical cost zone for me. May end up with an additional stool. I’m telling you it is a real struggle to get anything besides the same ole boring and tradition decor and furnishings in that area. I agree with you about the chairs, but they are really good quality and finding something to replace them around here or without paying shipping cost is my same old song and dance. Fabric and an upholster I can get. Plus if I don’t use the stuff, there’s that “What am I going to do with it”? Nobody will pay me anything for it, and I already have a storage building with stuffed full, so I might as well use it. I’m getting to old for this, but I will get it done sooner or most likely later. I’ll send you a photo when it’s hung. And that will take weeks. Have a good evening. Thanks!

I'll preface this by saying that I am in no way religious, so for me the Camino de Santiago isn't a religious or spiritual walk, but there is something very special in doing it as a continuous walk, without picking and choosing sections. I think that it has to do with the rhythm that you get into with the daily routine of walking from town to town, and the people that you get to know along the way. So in that regard I'm not unbiased. 😉 The last 100km to Santiago in July is going to be busy, but since receiving a Compostela at the end isn't important to you that leaves you with a multitude of other Camino routes that you can walk, which won't be as busy in July. The Camino along the northern coast is spectacular - you could walk from Irun to Bilbao or beyond, passing through San Sebastián. I haven't done any of the routes in France, but I hear that they are gorgeous, and the food is wonderful in the gites. You could also start at the "beginning" of the Camino Francés in the little town of St Jean Pied de Port in France and walk over the Pyrenees and through Basque Country, Pamplona, etc. You can find all the routes here on Gronze.com, which is only in Spanish, but if you use the Chrome browser it will automatically translate to English. Using a travel company is definitely not necessary. It's easy enough to make your own bookings on booking.com or directly with the properties. It's also easy to have your luggage transported - there are several companies doing this, including theSpanish Post Office. There are also tons of apps that you can use to stay on track, though the way is very well marked. The app that I prefer is called Buen Camino. And finally, the best source of information that I've found for a DIY Camino is Ivar's Camino Forum. Warning - you may be overwhelmed by the information and advice! What fun! Terri certainly wins this summer's popularity contest. She was my swappie too, once, and I still treasure the apron she sewed.

One day I will get to the Pacific NW and come knocking on your door, Terri.

I have family in CA but they refuse to cooperate when I want to visit with people. They are all alpha-males. It's not a pretty sight.

One day I will arrive out there ahead of schedule and hopefully see all you CA CFers in the flesh and blood. SOn is in Ventura and brother is in La Jolla, so there must be a few of you in between!

Awww, Terri...too bad you couldn't keep her longer and had a mini canny camp. Canning season is a nice time to have grunt....er....visitors drop in.

So. Jessy. You do know Washington is right next door to Idaho, don't you?
