These seem like major ommissions...any advice please?

Hello and Happy Holidays,

We have been building a house and after spending much time on a lighting plan, it appears it has not helped guide my electrician to wire accordingly. We have noticed many omissions and mistakes but have basically decided to live with them.

However, two omissions seem significant and I am not sure what to do.

1) He left off the On/Off switch for our gas fireplace

2) He forgot a recessed task light above the sink along with it's own separate switch.

The first error can be partially remedied with a remote but friends are saying a switch may actually be required by code. (Massachusetts)

The 2nd issue might not seem big because we could ask him just to fix it. However, that light sits between the ceiling and roof, which is all filled with icynene. The plastering and painting has been completed as well. I hate to see him tearing that all apart now and doing a patch job now. Might also compromise our insulation.

Any suggestions please? My brother mentioned a remote type of light but I am not sure whether it would work or how to install. There is a can close to the spot, and higher up.

What would you do please? Thank you.
