The lady ahead of you should have turned off if it bothered her that much! LOL
They usually don't pull over, at least up here they don't. They have the utilitiy companies on schedual to raise and lower or take down completely their lines and they charge the house movers! So once on the road they keep on going.

One of those situations that could make you grind your teeth. :)

I just smile, and am glad if the house isn't big. I watched Jerry and the crew move a HUGE two story house with brick chimney back in 1973, when he worked for Jack Davenport House Moving. :)

Tough job, dirty job, and the pay was lousy.

Liz, I think, I would have done the same, if I wasn't sure of the route. But, now I have a GPS, and if I had it in my car, would have turned off, and looked for another route.

Those GPS' are a GREAT invention.

Don't hate me Liz. I bought that house and am having it moved so that I CAN LIVE NEAR YOU, GIRL! And it had to be big so that I can have you and your pups over to visit.

This is what happens to me...but in grocery store line ups!

We have narrow country roads and often get behind wide loads. There are several new homes going up in the area.

My friend dropped by to see me on Monday on his way to San Antonio. He was pulling a large trailer behind him. He asked me where he could go to turn around when he left.

Going "around the block" out here is a 15 mile trip. LOL! He couldn't believe it.

I think it is fascinating how those guy can jack up a whole house and move it as far as you need it to go. Our neighbors bought an old forest service office for cheap then spent ten grand moving it to their lot by me. He husband is very handy and did the electrical, plumbing and changeover work and remodeling. It cost them something like twenty two thousand for a five bedroom, three bath, formal and family living rooms, a fair small kitchen and a big dining room.

Years ago I watched movers take a house down washing blvd. It was really cool. And they go make really really right corners too. The main truck just has to do a lot of point backing up and moving forward.

Not so great, I agree, if you are stuck behind one.

I would have taken pictures of the woman too. A video camera would have come in really handy. I'll bet you'd get footage to put on U-Tube!

Oh the memories! I used to bring my brothers home from school a couple of times a week. Apparently, 3-4 pm is a great time to be on the road if you're a double wide. We just laughed it off, it didn't seem like we could do much else.

Yeah...I'm really kicking myself today for not turning my camera around and getting the women's pic as she's slamming her fist on the steering wheel...ROFL...when the thing finally did pull off...she passed me like I was standing still...guess she really had to be somewhere...

I was impressed at how fast he was going...i mean when he had a straight shot, he was really booking...but had to slow down so many times because of signs...mailboxes...etc., It certainly was a sight to see!

My MIL bought her house that she had rented from Colonial Williamsburg in 1988...they decided they were gonna tear it down and level the lot...so she had worked for them for 25 years at the point and knew the right people to ask...she bought it for one dollar and moved it a block up...a block over and a block back down...cost her 30,000 to move it, but when she finally had all the work done it appraised for a nice penny so definitely worth the trouble...She didn't remove a thing from the house...the pictures on the wall or nothing...I couldn't believe the great job they did!
