I am going to give the khaki green color a shot since all of you like the creams and whites. I did try a test of a cream and it is so stark next to the bricks. I figure the green will give me the lightness I want while still being neutral. Worth a shot anyway, right? Parma42, I am coming around to your way of thinking too. I was thinking how painting the bump out and carport a bright color would accent them even more and really I don't want that. I want the door to be the focal point. I may try a terracotta door. Greenthumbfish, how on earth did you do that without adding color? I'm amazed. I can see the cream working so maybe the khaki green will work as well? Gonna try it and if all else fails maybe the cream. Thanks so much for the help! Awm03, I would love to paint the bricks. Matter of fact, I love cream painted bricks with brown trim and a pop of door color. However, dh wants to wait and see if we can find a color that works with the bricks first. Plus, I am going to be doing the painting and there are so many bricks to paint that I don't know if I could accomplish it or not. Thanks for the suggestions though. I agree it would make choosing paint less complicated though.

we need to change your name to 'paintandrepaint' - lol! 2 yrs would be too soon for me to repaint - anything! i think either a creamy/beige color or a golden in the kitchen would go with a green in the DR. you can pick another green for the DR to give you a change. see what the paint store has in green in either direction from the one you have in there now. or surely there is another color that won't make the furniture look orangey. i think. would an eggplant color make it look orangey? I'm not so good with all the varied color options today. There are too many to choose from. (I think I'm letting my sister pick mine). a goldy color would complement the counter top - since you like bolder colors. and golds and greens (and eggplant) go good together. i think many are going to the creamy colors because it gives such a lighter look - especially if you don't have many (or big) windows. it looks more open.

Caminnc: I will be sure & tell hubby! I told him yesterday that I posted it on here & he said, "you did tell them that I still had to plug the holes, right" Oops, sorry hubby, didn't mention that. So for all of you that noticed...he will be plugging the holes! LOL Hi Les, Actually her accent color is aqua and it is scattered around the room. Her sheets (which will show) are done is this aqua damask print. I originally was going to have the drapes made from the aqua damask print but decided to go with white drapes instead so that it wouldn't look too matchy matchy.

I would suggest you stick with the green - I would even suggest the olive over the sage. There are a few reasons for this. First, I think it's going to be far more pleasing aesthetically. The type of semi-ditressed glaze on a darker green is going to work wonderfully with all of the colours and textures that you have described so far. Next - it seems that this is your preferred choice. Remember that this is your home you are working on. Not a bond or a treasury bill. You will spend many hours in this room and I will go so far as to say that you'll find you enjoy spending time at home more when you home feels right to you than when it is sort of okay but not perfecet. Living in a place that you don't love wholeheartedly can make you more likely to list it for sale than if you were to really feel attached to it. Don't sell right now unless you HAVE to. Lastly; if a prespective buyer were to look at your kitchecn and find that although it's not quite finished to their taste, but is still a beautiful, welcoming area they are probably going to buy your house over another one if all other factors were equal. However, if your kitchen were to look like it was "almost but not quite there" because the cabinets were not working with the rest of the fittings, a buyer may well decided to purchase an different property where things were a bit more cohesive. In a nutshell, if you make it beautiful - it WILL be marketable. If your primary concern is to sell it quickly you need to make everything a lot more neutral than you have been suggesting - not only the kitchen. So, trust your instincts and realise that although not everyone's tastes are the same as yours, there are lots of folk out there who appreciate well-excuted design. Good Luck :) !
