What backsplash with absolute Black and Typhoon Bordeaux?

Just doing a preliminary poll of what people would recommend. I don't think we are even remotely close to the backsplash stage-but I want to get a head start at least thinking about it.

The kitchen has absolute black granite on the perimeter, cabs stained a cinnamon (y) color, and the island has typhoon bordeaux with black stained/cabinets. The flooring is a butterscotch (ish) stained oak. Should I go with a simple backsplash? maybe the taupe color that is in the island with random shots of black and wine from the typhoon bordeauz- What do you think? anything goes right now, but trying to avoid the "issues" we are having with the house and thinking about something more fun! Looking forward to hearing suggestions!

Gillylily...I just ordered mine tonight! My cabinets are cinnamon cherry and granite is typhoon bordeaux. I've ordered Walker Zanger tumbled travertine (driftwood) with bronze celtic accent buttons and tile design to compliment my ORB pulls and light fixture. I'm very excited.

Do you love your Typhoon Bordeaux? I wish I could have done my entire kitchen in it! I have a feeling I will be hugging my island daily once we move in! Your backsplash sounds really pretty- Can't wait to see pictures! i have a feeling I will do tumbled travertine as well and somehow incorporate the wine in the bordeaux and possibly put some absolute black granite in it as well... or do a border of some sort with a mixture of it all... Please show pics when it is complete!!

We have a Crema Bordeaux island and cambrian black antique on the perimeter countertop. I don't know if this will help you. I don't know the name of the backsplash tile we picked, but it is a honed marble and the shop was "The Tile Shop." We just picked it out today, I can find out the name if anyone is interested.

I couldn't see your picture but I was wondering if the place that sold you your granite also sold tile. Our place did so we were able to receive alot of help there. Anyway I would go lighter with picking up small accents of the granite color but any tile place should be able to help you if you go there with a sample of your granite.

Hi! The decorator's first choice was the hand-made, matte tile by Ceramica Alhambra. The color is "Trigo" (on the left in the following pics). It was actually the very first tile sample that I brought home from Walker Zinger. Her second choice (on the right) is "Toast" crackle by Sonoma Tilemakers. I would get it in a 3x6. The Trigo comes in a 3x6 but it is beveled, which I love but it does raise the price. Anyone out there have any opinion/experience with a beveled BS? It also comes in the standard 4x4 and there is a 2x4, as well. I have actually fallen in love with the smooth, matte finish and it is a nice "new texture" against the shiny granite. Opinions?? Thanks!!

We are having Typhoon Bordeaux installed next week. We are planning to use the same tile backsplash we used in our previous house because we loved it so much and had so many compliments on it. We use Tuscany Travertine subway tiles on the 12 x 12 mesh backing. The tiles are 2 x 4 and they are beveled on the edges. We used 1 full 12 x 12 from bottom of upper cabinets down, then a row of Noce Listello 4 x 12 with an antique bronze medallion and then finished with about 1/4 of a 12 x 12 piece across the bottom. The Tuscany Travertine just seems to match everything perfectly. I ordered 2 boxes from Home Depot this morning. Working with the 12 x 12 mesh pieces is soooo easy to install. I did our last kitchen myself and I had never tiled before.
