Pie crusts.....galore

Interesting article in today's Boston Globe. A taste test of five pie crust recipes - all quite different. I think a CF taste test might be in order.

There's a link to the recipes at the bottom of the first photo as well as with the photo of each different crust.

I just got some fresh peaches, so I may try one tonight.

Here is a link that might be useful: Pie crusts

After years of defaulting to pre-made pie crusts, last summer I made it my mission to learn to make a good one from scratch. Lots of people around here were eating pie!

I'm eager to read which ones others like best.

When I regularly made pie crusts (years ago) I used a recipe similar to the Butter-Shortening one, with the egg and TB of vinegar. But I'm pretty sure my recipe did not have any baking powder in it.

I use the Cook's Illustrated pie crust with a few tablespoons of vodka (brought to our attention by Wizard) and I haven't looked back. I didn't look at all the recipes on the link, but I don't see any mention of that concept.

The CI vodka recipe is the one I had the best luck with out of all the ones I've tried.
