juno makes an ICAT recessed light. Insulation Contact Air Tight make sure that the light is not one of the ones that is air tight when used with the following trims...these will set you back about $15.00 per light. Invest instead in ICAT..about $15.00 more per box of 6. beware of just reading the sticker inside as the red sticker says air tite in large letters and when used with in much smaller letters. Orange air tite stickers are ICAT. with other brands, physically remove one of the cans from the box..if the housing that goes into the attic has no holes, it is air tight. best of luck.

Countryboyok1, that makes sense. I got my wattage-in-what-can info from Seattle Lighting, but they sell Juno predominately so it makes sense they would pitch me Juno's 7.25" and not even mention Halo's equivalent. At Lowes where they sell predominately Halo, my local store only carried 6" tall cans that hold 50 watt. It wasn't stated for 50 - I had to ask outright, "will these cans take a 75 watt bulb?" He said no, I'd blow the can. It would turn itself off after 20 mins or so when it got hot enough. I told him that was my 3rd trip to Lowe's and the 2 people I'd worked with previously didn't say a thing about that to me and that I had even bought the 75 watt bulbs WITH those cans already per the recommendation of the last sales guy I worked with. I told him I would have made a big mistake if not for the guys at Seattle Lighting, and he said most of the sales people at any of the Lowe's wouldn't know about cans and higher wattage bulbs, but he did only because he was an electrician by trade. There was zero mention at any of the Lowes that Halo DID make a can that would hold a 75 watt. I guess if they don't sell it, it's not relevant to their customer! I do feel so sorry for people who set up their plan for 100 or 75 watt bulbs and then discover too late that their cans can only hold 50. I would be very angry at the big box stores for not providing that info. I was misled and caught it only cause of a random visit to a light store. I have to say I worked with yet ANOTHER light store in the very beginning who sold both Halo and Juno - they set up my lighting plan but ended up being too expensive - but the plan called for the 6" high Juno cans with 75watt bulbs. When I called her back after finding this out, she had to actually look it up in Juno's specs or literature or whatever, and was shocked to find out it was true. I have no idea why there is SOO much misinformation and lack of knowledge even in the industry about this. I am actually aghast at how this info is simply unknown. But good to know that Halo does sell cans that can hold higher watts. Interesting that they are almost as expensive as Juno.

How funny. I could have written this. Same screw up except my vinyl bead runs as you described but on 24 inch centers over 1000 sq ft of a full wrap around porch. Unfortunately I have a rule that nothing gets redone before I complete some yet executed phases like the screen porch, finished basement, etc etc. so I am stuck looking at it for now and explaining it to everyone who comes to see the house. You will want to rehang the short way. By going the long way you can't allow for the vinyl thermal expansion and contraction which contributes to your (& my!) sag. It gets very hot between you dark shingles and that porch ceiling. You may want to consider nailing up a radiant barrier before the plywood goes up and adding some venting. Or consider since you're nailing up plywood just get the painted beadboard plywood and be done with the vinyl. You can skip the venting in that case. As to the recessed lights, I have them as well (wired with romex which will be fine as it is protected under the roof) I centered mine between my posts which are about 8 feet apart. The result is nice "pools of light" at night. I would suggest you include the one in the center and then use lower wattage bulbs in the coach light as accents. That's what I did.

It just seems like for a little bit more than $3000 you could get a lot more in function. Do you have ventilation in place or will it be additional for that? I would probably try and stretch the budget a little and get the BS RCS. It has the star shaped, uncapped burners with open tray, max 15K BTUs. If the main reason you want high BTUs is searing steaks, you can get a cast iron skillet which holds a lot of heat and it will get hot enough to vaporize fat. It will just take a little longer to heat with lower BTUs. As far as a fifth burner, consider a portable induction burner. I'm not sure how useful all 5 burners would be at one time on a 30" rangetop. BS also makes a capped burner with a sealed tray with higher BTUs but this will have more flare of the flame so it really depends on the size of your cookware. Very recently Big Chill had their prostyle range, (made by BS)and and very similar to the BS capped and sealed burner range, for $2500 but they upped the BTUs a little and jacked the price up to $3300 so more in line with BS. They say on the website they have scratch and dent ones at a discount. You might be able to find a BS like that too. American Performer-- star shaped, uncapped, highest BTU, burners, semi sealed burner tray- is another consideration but at just under $3500 is also just a little above your price. There have been issues reported with service though and not sure how evenly the oven heats. If you have an all gas range, I think the infrared broiler is important if you use your broiler. A regular gas broiler allows all the heat to go up away from your food. The infrared broiler has intense even radiant heat. They can be smaller in area though. The biggest agvantage to me with the prostyle range is not looks but the depth front to back allowing wider pans.
