We have the all electric version of the Bosch Integra and have been using it for about six months. Very happy with it. I really can't comment on the Bertazzoni because it one we considered. We're very happy with the Bosch. The convection fan is not at all annoying or loud. The range is very well built and controls are straight forward. We went back and forth on gas versus electric but we've always had electric and smooth tops are easier to keep clean than gas if they are black. That is another reason we chose the Bosch. The only negative and it shouldn't be an issue if you go with dual fuel is the front metal edge of the cooktop which is part of the piece that houses the controls. With the smoothtop, if you happen to drag a pan across it as you take the pan off of the burner, it will scratch, not badly but noticeable. Now that we're conscious of it, we're more careful and I think the scratches will buff out but it is something to be aware of.

I wanted to share my latest range news. Sears approved a complete refund of my GEPBG975 and I bought an electrolux wavecontrol free standing range.(I wish I didn't have to have freestanding..but not enough money to gut my kitchen.) The switchover was today. I had to wait an extra 2 weeks as Sears had to order it. So far it looks like it has all the features of GE, but a few more bells and whistles, including more programing possibilities and very nice smooth sliding racks and a broiler pan and extra rack to be used with the pan for convection roasting. I like the rapid preheat and the instruction book is terrific and not made of newsprint.Also comes with a sturdy "quicklist" that is nice to put near the range while I'm learning the controls. I spoke to Electrolux beforehand...they sent me a cd to give me andvance instructions on how it works. A CD was also included with the range. It seems like a much sturdier and better made appliance than the GE. I like the center burner being an actual medium burner, rather than the oblong style of the Ge. The griddle can be used either as a grill or flat griddle on the left burners. I doubt I'll use that. One of the things I've noticed right away is that there is not that initial startup odor from the burners or the oven when the gas is first turned on. (Like gas logs.)I had that every time with the GE So,initially I give it a favorable report. I'll be doing a lot of cooking in the next few weeks, including making jelly, and will report back. I'm hoping for the best. It is wonderful not to be "shopping" anymore. Oh, the gasket seal seems very tight and the knobs aren't hot, (warm when the stove is on for a while, but that is expected.) kooopons: BlueStar made a bunch of design changes for the currently shipping ranges (RCS V2, RNB V2, and Platinum) that addressed the problems found on some earlier models. These changes include modifications (or completely new design) of: oven door, oven floor, oven walls, convection fan blade, burner mounting rails, igniters, and visible sheet metal parts. They also moved to a new factory in Blandon, PA about a year ago with a bunch of new employees. Notice the lack of BlueStar complaints on GardenWeb in the last year or so.

Greetings, Houzz Community. My husband and I are about to start a kitchen renovation. We bought our first home, a 19-year-old townhouse, last fall and have replaced all of the appliances but the cheap, black, freestanding GE gas range out of necessity. I know it's the original range from looking at pictures of similar homes listed for sale online, and it matched the GE dishwasher that was included when we moved in. Now all of our other appliances are brand new and stainless steel. Although I hate that it doesn't match color-wise, the range is still functional and gas (this is the first time in our adult married life we've had a gas stove vs. electric), so we haven't replaced it, but I question its life expectancy, fuel efficiency, and general functionality. It's your basic, 30" 4-burner gas stovetop with the black enamel strip running down the middle and 2 grates in the oven. It does not have a convection feature or any other bell or whistle. Parts of the stove top have melted from previous owners/tenants' usage. While I bake professionally, I really haven't put my oven through the gauntlet of baking tasks in the last year due to my work schedule and general lack of interest in cooking in my very cramped and inefficient kitchen (hence the renovation). I know it has hot spots and I wouldn't use more than one rack at a time for any sort of baking task. We expect to live in this home for the next 5-7 years. My husband is stingy and doesn't think we need to replace it right now, though acknowledges we likely will need to change it out (assuming it hasn't died) before selling the home down the road. We are not at the point financially to upgrade to a Viking/Wolf/Thermador top-of-the-line stove and our neighborhood market doesn't warrant that for resale. In short, I would appreciate any recommendations you have for a replacement gas range below $2,000. Unless I can convince my husband to purchase a new range in the next week, it will need to be the freestanding kind to work with our counters (which haven't been templated yet). And while I think induction is a great technology, most of my pots and pans are NOT induction-ready, so I would rather not switch to that functionality at the present time.
