All I Can Do is Shake My Head

I subscribe to several FreeCycle groups.

While most requests are valid, there's been a couple lately that are doozys.

Tonight, one woman from Ogden has FOUR requests up.

Guess what she wants?

A full sized violin.

A full size electric keyboard.

A computer with a big hard drive for her pictures and a washer/preferably a washer/dryer set but she can live with just a washer.

And of course, ALL must be in working order you know.

She says she is TIRED of using her neighbors computers, piano (they don't have room for a piano so they need a keyboard but only if all the keys work) and washing machine.

Oh wow.

I felt guilty a few years ago when someone gave me blue hood to a Mercury Sable my kids had wrecked and we had to take it off the wrecked car to get it!

it is crazy isn't it!! I asked for some wire coat hangers at Christmas to make some wreaths and my request was denied for posting.....no explanation just a message that it had been denied...........perhaps if I hade requested that they be hanging from the hook inside a newer model car it would have been approved!!

Since this is an outer wall, I'll wager this is thermal expansion/contraction of the piping or heating elements. When I was very young, the house had a family room that had been converted from a screened porch. A loop of hydronic baseboard heat was the easiest to add to a system that had radiators elsewhere. As the heat would come on, one could hear the baseboards creaking with expansion, which would occur sequentially around the room. Sounded like some small and not especially energetic critter making the rounds. If you don't see droppings, you don't have mice. Snakes, maybe, but not mice.... ;-) Cheers

Awful. Avoidable. Sorry for your community's loss. Hopefully this brings awareness to drivers. Our city is in the midst of connecting/ building a 100 mile greenway loop for bicyclists (some of which will be bike lanes inshared roadways) as well as a 75+ mile trail connecting mt. biking and cyclocross trails. Trust me these can not come soon enough! Most drivers in this city do not respect cyclists or give us the necessary space. I have had numerous close calls. While we were dating, My husband was involved in a collision where someone sideswiped him and left him for dead! Thankfully he only broke his collarbone and cracked two ribs and had bruises etc. But the jerk driver didn't stop and just kept going. He/she was never caught. I often wonder if they even tried to follow up to see if they killed a person that day! In my hometown the former miss america of 2000 or some year give or take a two who married the lt. Governor actually killed a cyclist. Her interviews after the fact horrified me. The guilt she lives with daily... I cant imagine. The incident enraged the cycling community as many thought the police report was written with an anti cyclist bias and "celebrity" leniency. Still the cyclist had some blame as she wasn't wearing a helmet... We need to all be more aware. I love the "icky" reminder!

My first thought was "he's gay, and he's a fabulous dresser" because it takes a confidant man to pull that off. Lol then I read goldies post....ok so he's just a fabulous dresser. I can see that dressed up with black suit pants and a bow tie and fab diamond studs...or casual with jeans and loafers. I'm obviously hanging around with too many well dressed gay men lol. I have a couple of friends I could instantly see that on heh heh.

TMG, I tumble my glass (in my double barrel tumbler from Harbor Freight) for 30-45 minutes. I put enough water in it to cover it at least 1/2" and then a drop of dish detergent. Then I rinse it in a strainer and it is very finger friendly and clean. I really like the difference in tumbled glass on 3D items. It's just a real plus on flat surfaces. Well worth the money IMO.

Amazing how much some people expect...some guy who said he couldn't afford to buy one, asked for a diamond wedding ring on our Freecycle last year!

How can anyone even THINK about getting married when he can't even afford the ring?

BTW, I'm going to need a new car before too long. ; )

I am on several freecycle lists as well. But I check them on their site, as I didn't want all those darn "want" ads in my mailbox.

I have gotten so disgusted with freecycle anyway, that I haven't checked it in AGES.

Now I look at craigslist. Not as many wants, but they are starting to creep in there too. :(

I hate freecycle just for that reason. There are people in desperate need and I understand that but most people just want stuff free. Our freecycle requires you to give stuff away first and the stuff the "I wants" give away is junk.

I agree with you Lori. I guess she feels entitled....I just hate it.
