Actor Dale Robertson died

He was 89.

Robertson's niece, Nancy Robertson, said her uncle died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., following a brief illness.

Dale Robertson had bit parts in films including "The Boy with the Green Hair" and the Joan Crawford vehicle "Flamingo Road" before landing more high-profile roles such as Jesse James in "Fighting Man of the Plains."

In the 1950s, he moved into television, starring in series such as "Tales of Wells Fargo" (1957-62), "Iron Horse" (1966) and "Death Valley Days" (1968-70).

Robertson continued to work in TV in the 1970s, and in the 1980s he landed roles in the popular night-time soap operas "Dallas" and "Dynasty."

In 1993, he took what would be his final role, as Zeke in the show "Harts of the West," before retiring from acting to spend more time at his ranch in Yukon, Okla., where he lived until moving to the San Diego area in recent months, Nancy Robertson said.

LOL!!!! Well, I'm not quite done re-reading the Order, yet. And I was thinking...maybe I should re-read the Half-Blood Prince, just to, you know, refresh the ol' memory. And then I was thinking I could wait for the movie, because...I'm SCARED for it to end!!!!! LOL Seriously, I got the bood yesterday, and I think I am going to catch up again with Years 5 & 6 first. Some thoughts to throw out there, though, which have been clattering around in me olde brain - In the Order of the Phoenix, there's a prophecy that only Harry or Voldemort can be left standing at the end. I just CAN'T imagine it would be Voldemort, considering all of his enemies...and Rowling already has said 2 will die in the last book. I would think V. would have to kill everyone to possibly live on. Ok, thought #2 (as in poop...LOL) - Also in the Order, when Harry goes into the pensieve and sees Snape's memories from his days at Hogwarts, Harry's father, James, and Sirius don't come off looking good at all. They are downright cruel to Snape, and as Lily (Harry's mom) says to James in the school scene, "What has he ever done to you?!" So it wasn't like paybacks toward Snape. James and Sirius were just being mean for the sake of it. Harry is sick over this scene, seeing his father behave in such a way. So then I was thinking, since Harry doesn't seem at all like his father, maybe....James isn't his father!! Maybe....Voldemort is (a.k.a. Tom Riddle)! Maybe that's why V. couldn't kill Harry when he was a baby! Oh, I have so many more thoughts on this, but I have a feeling you all might be wishing you could have just sent life support instead. Green or is it Dale? As far as choosing a reputable online nursery. Well, there's always GW...asking people if they ordered from 'x' nursery and their opinions. Second..have you heard of Gardenwatchdog? You can check a nursery's feedback there. Go to www.gardenwatchdog.com click on first letter of nursery, scroll down until you find the name, then click...99% is honest feedback. Shipping...It's true, there are shipping charges, 'sometimes free shipping though,' but unless a nursery happens to be in the state you reside, it's tax-less. Our county tax is, if not one, the highest in the US. Some people on Ebay offer free shipping, others charge a small fee..Of course, there are some sellers who take advantage, charge over-priced handling fees. Those I avoid. Also, there's hundreds if not thousands rare plants you can only find online. Never locally. A very BIG plus buying online. :) Nope, you're not cheap, you're cautious. These days, you must be careful. One reason it's best finding reputable nurseries..where people you've talked to shopped or checking Gardenwatchdog. Mike, I believe we got our Ag's around the same time..definately, same month. Yours arrived a few days to a week after mind. I like them a lot. I'm always in the middle of one and have 2 to 4 others on deck and ready to go. My pace is about 3-4 books a month, depending on the length of the books. Real long ones can take several weeks. I listen when exercising, on solo drives of >15 minutes, and (less frequently) on plane flights. I'm pretty indifferent who the reader is or how good or bad they are. Author and content are much more important to me. I abandon maybe one out of every five books I start, always because of the story or writing style. I can't remember once doing so because of the narrator. I'm not sure how one could say one particular reader "is Jack Reacher". As I recall, all or almost all the Reacher books are written in the third person, so the written words being spoken belong to a narrator, not the character, except for direct quotes.

It's so interesting to take novels we enjoyed as young people, and re-read as adults. It's a whole different viewpoint. I wouldn't include The Little Prince as a novel, but it is a wonderful little book. Every time I read it, or my kids read it, it's different. April and Lars, perhaps I will try Russian novels again . . . if I own it and can mark it up, and if it's a good translation. But maybe not Dostoevsky. After reading Dickens and Hugo, who were also likely paid by the word, I don't think I have the attention span anymore. My son was in Les Mis in high school, and I decided to read the novel by the time the show closed. Well, through 4 months, wholesale skipping pages dealing with pruning fruit trees, underground sewer systems, and Napoleonic battles, I finished the last page while waiting for him to get home from the cast party. Grueling. Excellent, but grueling.

Gee, I hated to see this Cynic. I have fond and personal memories of Mr. Robertson.

Over the 25 years I worked at the American Quarter Horse Association, Dale would come to our office and I got to assist him several times.

He once signed an autograph for my Mother and gave it to me along with a picture taken by one of our staff members. It was a picture of me and him together..just a simple Polaroid in black and white, but you should've seen the look on Mother's face when I gave her the photo and autograph.

On this same visit, he was purposely touring the office after taking care of business so we all got to meet him. I told Dale my Mother had always loved him and he said, "Well darlin', tell her to keep right on loving me." :)

He was always so pleasant and remained very handsome over the years with those pretty blue eyes and distinguished black and gray hair.

R.I.P. Dale Robertson; I'll never forget you.

I met him years ago, he was very close friends with my across the road neighbor lady. He would come to visit quite often. We lived out in the country on farms with acreage so their house was our closest neighbor and the closest kids to play with so we hung out at each others houses a lot. I was there many times when he showed up to visit. Very nice and handsome man. Always driving a big fancy car for our area. He gave us all autographed pictures and various stuff
I have no idea what happened to any of that stuff.

I also remember him from long ago. Don't be upset but, just for the record, your information should be enclosed with quotation marks...... I thought you were very personally acquainted with him and had firsthand knowledge of the facts you stated. Then I went to your link and saw where you got the info.
