I also got tired of looking and purchased some cheapo jelly jar lights from HD and spray painted them red. I get a lot of compliments on them.

The Dark Sky models are essential (I think) for any lights that are not under cover. They help to preserve the starry night sky for all to enjoy.

Thank you for responding piegirl. I think the starry nights are beautiful too but I don't seem to like any of the Dark Sky models. And I'd be fighting a losing battle, our neighbors believe 'let there be light!' was meant for out street!

Maybe someone knows of some nice Dark Sky lights, I recall seeing lots of industrial style ones in my search, but I don't remember where.

We ordered our lights from Bellacor, the brand is Minka-Lavery. They are beautiful! There weren't too expensive, from order to delivery was 5 DAYS, and no tax, no shipping. We're very pleased!

A dark sky light is any light that does not project above 90 degrees (i.e. parallel to the ground or higher). You can also take most lights that are not dark sky friendly and make them dark sky friendly simply by the way you install them. Forexample a traditional landscape uplight that most people stick in the ground and aim up at a tree, can instead be mounted in the tree and aimed down (i.e. down lighting or moonlighting technique). This actually gives off more light and does not cause light pollution to the night sky or to your neighbors. By using the tree mount accessory (only $8) you can convert any landscape light into a Dark Sky friendly light. Just a suggestion if you don't like the Dark Sky only fixtures.
