Weird hardware placement???

Hi, all! I finally have a question. I came home today to find my cabinet hardware installed (YAY!), but not where I had specified (BOO). So my question is, do you think this looks weird? We originally discussed putting the knobs down at the bottom, but for some reason that didn't happen. I don't hate it, but it's just not what I was envisioning. The cabinet guy said we could fill the holes and paint, but couldn't promise me I wouldn't be able to tell where the holes were. So what's your opinion? Would you live with it or have them change it?

My natural inclination would be to have them at the bottom. You could have your contractor try his patch and paint solution on one set of doors, the least noticeable, and see if 1) you prefer the placement, and 2) if the patch and paint is acceptable to you. Since it was his mistake and he is facing paying for replacement doors, I bet he'll try like crazy to get it to look good:)
It is certainly not horrible as is, the question is how much it bothers you, since it is not as you originally wanted it.

Most installers place the hardware the way the homeowner prefers
I usually have the installer place the hardware in line with the inside raised panel pretty much as yours have been placed
The pantry handles on the lower door I would question unless that's how you wanted them.

We had planned to get our ceiling fan in the satin nickel finish, as we had chosen all SS appliances, and SN hardware, and felt that a SN finish would be a better match. We had fallen in love with the fan on display, in chrome. It looked so pretty in chrome, and the SN finish on the sample chip (a nice sized sample square) didn't look nearly as nice (dull, with brownish undertones), so we got the fan in chrome. It's a nice shiny touch of "bling" and it doesn't look of of place (with the other finishes) at all. We also ended up choosing counter stools with chrome legs, and they look good with the other finishes as well.

I've never seen anything like that either. Have you ever used Ook professional hangers? They're great, it's all I use. Ook hangers. They'll hold a lot of weight and no honking holes in the wall, even for heaviest hangers pins (nails) are still thin. Our FR is low light and L shaped, so a large room that felt like a cave. I put 3 large mirrors in various spots to catch sunlight and bounce if off other mirrors. So the main focus was on position with stud being secondary. I had always used Ooks for everything else so decided to try them with the mirrors. For the largest mirror (about 36" wide by 30" high with a 3" frame) I used 3 of the treble type (they will hold 75lbs or 100 lbs). One on each outer edge of frame and one in center. Think I might have hit one stud. No problems, no big holes in the wall, they've been there for years. I used to be only able to find them at LNT, but since they've closed I've noticed them other places. For sure Lowe's has them.

Hard to advise without knowing how much work your willing to put in. Ideally, unlimited time, resources, patients , money... I would: Definitely paint all one color. Wood doors. Would you center the front door? Would you add French doors in between those two windows. Pull that front door out. And create a porch area? Or just add some more windows in between those two. The upper half definitely needs some windows. Landscaping. Lighting will also add a lot. Again it’s hard to suggest with very vague information. Do whatever you can to this home. It has potential. Look at the option of putting 2 large pendant lights over the table. Not necessarily this style but this spacing may work with what you already have

The knobs on my current cabs are about where yours are. I do think the pantry handles look a bit odd. I might have him change those. Maybe the bottom of them could end in the hole that is at the top now. Otherwise, I would leave the rest.

Thanks so much for the advice. I think I'm going to live with it for a week and then see how I feel. I actually think seeing where the holes were filled would bother me more than where the knobs are now. It makes me feel better to know that this placement is not completely out of the ordinary. I asked for the handles on the pantry to be placed lower so that my daughter will be able to reach them. Thanks again for the replies!

I'm with Kelleg on the knobs. I probably think they look fine because I have the same kind of knobs and they are located in just about the same position on my own cabs! As for the handles, I'm with Sunnyd and am a bit curious about their size and placement.
