I had 3 of PB's Quinn rugs for almost 2 years. They shed so badly that I finally contacted PB and asked them what to do. PB immediately suggested that I return them for a full refund, which I was so glad to do!! I swear I heard my central vac saying "thank you, thank you!"
They look good, and feel great underfoot but I would run, not walk, from the Quinns!

You've been very helpful. That is what I feared someone would say; they are just SO gorgeous. I did call and the sales rep said she has one from a few years ago and it's the bane of her existence, lol, and that it sheds horribly, still. She did say that she thinks the newer ones have much less of an issue shedding wise because there are not nearly as many people calling.

Ahh, I hope your post can talk me out of getting it, but I just don't know. There website does say it should only shed for a month (which I know is wrong) so if it's still driving me insane 6 months - 1 year down the road, I'm sure I can get a refund... But do I really want to vacuum everyday!?! Geesh, I don't even have a good vacuum since we have all hardwood downstairs. Ugh, decisions!

I hope it is not to late but I thought I would provide some insight and experience about shag rugs. Having owned many shag rugs before I can understand the frustration that many people have in the shedding they can create. It is important to realize what kind of material you are buying, so see below for a great resource that I found on shag rug materials. Different materials will provide different effects in terms of shedding. Also different styles can create different shedding effects. If you want to limit shedding I would recommend fabrics like Polyester, Acrylic, and Nylon. They even have leather shags and those will never shed! Style can play a role as well as you want to look for tighter material and a well constructed backing that will not give way over time.

I think it is the type of material, more than the length of the pile that causes shedding. I bought a wool tufted rug on O a few months ago for my FR. It still sheds, my DH hates it so most likely I'm going to have to move it to under my bed and get something else for the FR. However, I bought a cotton chenille shag rug for DD's room and it has never shed.

If you are worried about the shedding I'd pass it over. It gets on everything, including your clothes which is why my DH wants it gone.
