Poppy seeds (for cooking) from California poppies?

I love California poppies (Eschscholzia californica), and boy, are they ever prolific this year in my little garden! As the flower dries and the petals fall, the seed pod forms. It's elongated, slightly-curved & the thin seed pod turns from green to brown, and becomes more and more dry, until finally, it dries so much that it pops open and the seeds are all over the garden, ready for next year! Sometimes they just pop open in my hand as I'm picking the seed pods, so I've made adjustments for that!

Are these the same seeds that are used in poppy seed muffins, and poppy seed dressing? I don't want to poison myself by accident, and even though there is info in Wikipedia, anyone can post something in Wikipeida, right?

Thanks for any info!

Smiles,

Sooz
