Very pretty place! You know it looks like it would be so pleasing to most buyer's eyes right now, I would be hesitant to change the paint. SW Blonde is a popular color that builder's designers use around here -so it must work! I'm not a lighting expert, but some on this forum know a lot about that, and maybe could help here. But I'm thinking that there may be different bulbs you could use that would make it seem lighter and brighter...?

I agree. Blonde is a very popular color and is almost a neutral as far as I'm concerned. I think it works pretty well in your space, as it looks different in your different lighting situations. Especially if you're just doing it for resale, I'd just leave it alone.

Switch to a matching set of larger lamps on each end of the sofa. Move the standing lamp behind the dark chair -- and the single lamp on the entertainment center.

ok, I'll leave it alone. I guess it's just a matter of turning on ALL the lights. I have sconces on the wall with the windows now - so that helps. It was rainy and cold here yesterday so that didn't help :-)

When we sold our house a few months ago, I would go around and turn on all the lights and lamps for showings. The rooms looked much brighter and more welcoming, and realtors always turned the lights out when they left, so it wasn't a problem.

I also painted my dark dining room in SW Camelback, which is one strip over from Blonde, I believe. I found it was the perfect color, as the previous paint had been lighter but more neutral. The warm golden tones of Camelback really made the room feel brighter and richer, so I agree that Blonde is a great color to keep in your situation.

Pretend your 90 year old grandmother who doesn't see so well is coming to visit. That's the amount of lights to leave on in the home for a showing. Add small lamps in unexpected places like a small one where your fruit bowl is in your kitchen and an uplight behind your chair next to the patio door. Turn them all on just before you leave the house for the showing. And I'd also eliminate the two small appliances in your kitchen corner, even if they needed to come back out for usage on a daily basis, you don't want them on the counter during showings. You also want to eliminate 90% of the stuff on top of the white cabinet in the den and (needless to say) the toys. A big basket that you can stuff everything in and stash in the car is a great timesaver on last minute tidying. You don't have to find a "home" for the remaining clutter. It goes with you in the car.

A beautiful house - that living room looks so cozy. You have the perfect color for that craftsman style - a bungalow? Buyers looking at your historic neighborhood are going to want just that kind of coziness and authenticity. Turn on the lights, and keep the color!

I don't know if limbing up the trees would be at all helpful, especially with the porches but it's something you might consider if the branches are low. Also makes the yard look bigger and airier, and helps the grass grow.

I'm a Realtor and I'd really urge you to keep it as is. It already has a nice lighting to it (no glare) and the current wall color is upbeat and very appropriate for the space.
