Our local news, Christmas Eve, had 30 minutes of a Yule Log segment. Loved it!

We sell a Fireside Candle that goes real well with the "fake" fire! lol No kidding! A couple came in one day asking if we might have a candle that smelled like a fire burning! Sure we do!! They were amazed and bought 3 of them to send to their daughter...along with a " roaring burning fire" CD. The daughter had moved off somewhere and no longer had a fireplace..and that was the one thing she missed!!

Actually I had one of those candles and loved it. Wish I could find them here!

Finally - some modern thing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

My neighbours had the "Roaring Fire" on their wide-screen TV (via satellite) during part of their family party on Christmas eve.

Do you have enough sources of hot air at your house that the appearance of the "roaring fire" on the TV is sufficient - you don't need the heat from it? If you're a bit short ... maybe invite some of the neighbours in for the evening?

It'd be a lot cheaper than buying the wood for a fireplace.

But ... wait a minute ... what does it cost for the subscription to the fireplace channel on cable?

I hope that it comes included in one of the bundles that contains some other channel(s) that you wanted to watch, any way.

Hi, Mush! I've never watched that channel, but it wouldn't make me as happy as our wood burning stove does, anyway. I need a heat source to hover near!

Our stove has a glass door so we can see the fire and sometimes, depending on how hot it is or the type of wood we're burning, it's so beautiful. I love our old stove.

And I can honestly say, we've never paid one cent for firewood. More trees fall over every year on this property than we could possibly burn. We do stay busy cutting it up, hauling it to the house and splitting and stacking it, though. That's another way firewood keeps you warm. lol It helps keep our electric bill down, that's for sure.

Mush, is that on the PC (can you give us the link?), or the TV?

I used to have a tv in the fireplace, in one of the houses I lived in. Told DH back then, I want a video of a roaring fire. Never got one.

I used to tune into that channel that had the fireplace video running on Christmas Even, it was fun. Then I found the DVD at Dollar General one year. You can either have just the fire and fireplace sounds or Christmas Carols. I forgot all about playing it this year.

But, I want some of those candles country bumpkin! That would be so much fun.

Granted that I don't smell too well ...

... but I didn't figure that burning candles and burning logs smelled anythng like the same.

Bump, I bet those candles smell great. Do they remind you of camping? I love the smell of burning wood when you're outside. Makes me think of hot dogs and 'smores!

flamingo, you reminded me that I bet a person could burn incense. Years ago I had some balsam fir incense that smelled just like pot! I was always worried about burning it right before company came. :)

I remember watching "The Yule Log" burn on TV Christmas moRning. Brings back happy memories!

The grand kids found that channel the other night and we had more fun watching/listening to it....After a while we had to turn the station, room was getting too hot!
What will they come up with next?????
