It certainly wouldn't be my choice for a lifestyle but of all I have seen of this family on all of the programs they seem quite happy and the kids all seem well adjusted. I really think this world might be better off in more of the kids of today took at least the vow of chastity until marriage. I think having that many kids is way over the top but who am I to decide for them? And the camera wedding thing...It's done all the time at lots of wedding...I bet if you ask any young couple if they'd be embarrassed by the cameras and feel their wedding is so sacred that they wouldn't want it being filmed for production or if they would consent to it for a little nest egg of about 100 grand...Do any of you have children who would turn that down? I say God Bless the them and more power to them...

My hope for all people (regardless of gender or race) is that they are able to pursue a life of their choosing and that we as a society provide at least a minimum of education that should one decide to alter or change the trajectory of their life, they have at least a bare minimum of resources to fall back on. I think it would be sad for women rights to free women from one master (patriarchy) to find themselves subjected to another, with that other being told/forced to live their lives according to the standards of other. I want to pursue the life that fulfills me, not the one other's say should fulfill me (regardless of it is women or men setting the standard). My hope would be that all women and men get to pursue the life they want.

I think she would have to be holding the little ones until they are weaned at least because she nurses them.With that many kids in the house why wouldn't they be helping to take care of the younger ones? I had only 4 kids and the older ones helped me!That is something I see in all large families.Sorry but I just don't see much about this family that is "disturbing".They lead very busy lives and "making an appointment" to talk to your parents seems like a good idea to me.Most families now days don't even have the time to MAKE the appointment!LOL "I'm sorry. I didn't realize this was the Duggar's-can-do-np-wrong, pro child labor, pro cult blog." I don't think it is! They dress the same because they buy their clothes at thrift stores,nothing wrong with that,and because it is easier to identify the kids in a crowd.I use to dress my 4 alike,made most of their clothes so I guess that makes me some kind of strange person? LOL As for the same hair styles,maybe the girls all like long hair and the boys like the clean cut look?? Or maybe the girls/women identify with the scripture that pertains to a womans hair being her "glory".whatever the reason,it's their business! I totally agree with Ruthie.It is refreshing not to hear all the profanity that comes out of most teenagers mouths now days or to see the scanty dress on girls and the sloppy attire that the boys all wear now.Just last night we were shopping in Wal-mart and followed 6 teen age boys for several minutes.You would not believe the stuff coming out of their mouths.then when we were loading our groceries in the car 4 of these same boys were beating one of the others,had him on the ground hitting and kicking him,sll 4 at the same time.they took off running,right past us,hopped in a pickup and took off.the one being beaten and the one with im jumped in another car and left.I don't know how badly the one was hurt,but we think it was a boy that was in the store with them who was mentally handicapped.He had downs.It all happened so fast and they were gone before we could even call for help.Anyway,it is refreshing to know that there are still some families like the Duggers that don't conform to the rest of the world! That's all I have to say about this subject!

Good grief people, let the people live their own lifestyle. At least their kids aren't joining gangs, stealing, etc. As for quality time with parents, I don't remember ever having one on one quality time with my parents and I feel I turned out reasonably well. My parents only had 6 but my aunt had 12. As for the donations, I'm sure the companies do it for their own reasons, publicity, free advertising, etc. I would accept any donations that anyone would want to give me too. What upsets me more is the illegals in this country having baby after baby and getting welfare and medical help. We used to have apartments in Ca. and most of the tenants were illegals and one woman asked me why I didn't have more children and I replied I didn't get paid to have babies, I had to work to support them. Her kids had better clothing, etc. than mine and she didn't use birth control, after all these kids were income. I know I'm in the minority, but that's the way I am and believe.
