omg the kt is loaded with them..lice? egads yes had to do that route too. i was itchy scratchy ick since i read it (no offense) now bed bugs?? well ok theres bed bugs and there is bedbugs. ewww heebyjeebys now you have mites/bugs in the pillow you sleep on every night, in the mattress you sleep on and you cant see them! heres how to tell you have big bedbugs..you are married? you have pets? you get out of shower slather yourself in crisco..and still itch (only cuz someone here said bedbugs lol) they are all darned annoying as a bedbug!! or i could say we are all crazier than a bedbug! lol lice omg you have to wash EVERYTHING curtains and everything thats in closets etc..in boxes whatever..its a huge chore but youll keep getting lice because of the eggs regardless..bleach dont work you have to do everything all in one day and i mean wash..i had to do my 3 kids and 5 others because they all slept at one anothers house! 8 kids! omg! got it done wasnt anyones fault it just happens. ps not to scare anyone but getting rid of lice if you dont do it right is just as bad as getting rid of roaches and i know we all know how bad that can be!

I agree, ick, ick. I've been infested with fleas (on dogs and cats) and headlice, two of the worst cooties there are. Never saw a bed bug, and never WANT to see one!

Fleas are the worst! We had such a terrible time with them last year. We went through headlice many years ago with our daughter. I honestly did not realize that bedbugs were real. I am not ever going to be able to sleep in a hotel again without taking some RID with me! What I am sick and tired of are fire ants. We never had them until this past summer and I will tell you what- I manage to find them every single time I go outside. I really do not like bugs!

You have a typical container-grown tree. The wholesale grower ties the trunk tightly to a stake to encourage rapid upward growth. Unfortunately, the result is a tree that can't stand on its own. To support the tree now that it's in the ground, use a 2-stake system. Use 2-inch stakes, place them at opposite sides of the tree and about 8 inches away from the trunk. To properly "tie" the tree, 1. Loosely hold the trunk at the highest place which will hold the head upright. 2. Tap a nail into each 2-inch stake at 2 inches above that point. 3. Loop a flexible tie around the tree from each side, then secure the ties to the nails in the stakes. a. One kind has a section of tire tread (about 6 inches by 1 1/2 inches) with a sturdy wire at each end. b. Another kind might be a section of bicycle inner tube. Your goal is to support the tree while allowing it to move in the breeze. That movement will allow the most rapid strengthening of the trunk. In each successive year, remove the ties and start over with Step #1 to determine the new place, lower on the trunk, to place the ties. Although most trees won't need the support after the first year, some trees require two years of help.

Raven, yes you covered just about everything. I have been using a three wheeled handicapped scooter for nearly 20 years. I try very hard to use courtesy while out and about, but there are times that I don't get the same consideration from the public. The truth is that the person on a scooter is out of the standing upright person's line of vision. They just don't see us in time. I have learned to anticipate sudden movement from those who often step into my path not knowing I am there. I would dearly love to go to one of those large craft happenings that are common at this time of year in my area, but haven't done so in many years. Trying to get to the booths to see anything becomes impossible as rude people have no regard for the fact that I cannot see over them and give me no space to do so. I don't have an aggressive bone in my body, so don't "push" my way around. I just hope that someone will give me a break, but wind up being disappointed. My DH on the other hand is not so polite (on my behalf) and winds up embarrassing me so I stay home. I guess in the end it is 'my fault' that I can't enjoy this type of outing. On another note, last week I spent 2 hours at the mall. In particular I was looking to see what is available in bras. In the 5 stores I was in, trying to navigate the much to tight aisles, not one sales assistant even acknowledged me, let alone offered to help me. In one store, I left the area for several minutes twice and then came back just to test the young sales assistant. At no time did she acknowledge me. Yes, I could have asked for help, but when I worked retail, as soon as any customer, handicapped or able bodied, entered my area a greeting and an offer to help was immediate. I am shopping mostly from catalogs these days because the aisles in department stores, especially clothing, are often impossible to navigate and many no longer have an assistant in the department, let alone one who will offer help. I will say that other customers are more likely to ask if help is needed, and it is greatly appreciated, especially in the grocery store.

Mush, when writing or in training, it is written GSW. Thankfully Ive never had to say the words out loud. And we write DGBH for Death and Grievous Bodily Harm which is how we determine what our response option (ie use of force) will be and that perception of DGBH is different for me than it is for someone else. If we were calling over the radio or phone for an ambulance they might say Golf Sierra Whiskey. I know when some police agencies respond to a sudden death, the radio call is a Sierra Delta. My work has a TON of acronyms. Its a language of its own. (forgive me, my keyboard switched to french and I cant remember how to change it back, so no apostrophes.) ck_squared the kids now say all the time: What team are we versing. Thats how they say it, not who are we playing, but who are we versing.

And how about those weevils?? Once they get in your pantry they're as hard to get rid of as bedbugs!

Took me all summer to get rid of weevils once. I bought a store brand package of cornmeal once and it didn't last a month. I hadn't opened the package so I was surprised to see them in the freshly opened pacage - OMG was it awful! I had to throw out EVERYTHING!!

I like that saying ont_gal! I had completely forgot about the weevils. We got them once as well. They came in a box of corn muffin mix- this was back before they sealed the plastic inside, it was just folded down!

Weevils! I had them once about 30 something years ago. I then bought Tupperware cannisters to put my new flour, etc. in.

My coworker had those 'things' that get in the pantry before. She had to throw away all the food and do drastic measures to kill them once and for all. She finally found her source - it was a bag of birdseed.

The lice have given me the creeps so bad. Thinking of all the places you can get them, I'll probably just never leave the house without a hoodie that I can wear and then wash the minute I get home.

And per another suggestion I read, I will probably keep the tea tree oil spray and use it before every trip to the movies or airplane flight.

Thinking back, in the week or two before we discovered them, we had been to the mall trying on hats. I had even taken some mobile snapshots of her goofing off with all kinds of silly hats. I look at those photos now, and think that was probably where they came from.

Esp since it's a bit out of season for lice up here, but we had been in FL shopping.

Just a tip for the parents. I was a hairdresser for many years, and saw a lot of lice.
The worst times seem to be in September (beginning of school year) December, (after Christmas break) and after spring break. Keep this in mind with your kids.
I went through this with my kids when they were younger too, not fun at all.
We saw teachers that had them too, hugs can be more contagious than we think sometimes.
Keep an eye on your kids, especially when they are quiet and still, they will scratch the nape of their necks and behind their ears. Remind them not to share hats or pillows or combs, the most frequent exchange of lice.

Kids can get lice just from leaning their heads on the headrests on the schoolbus. They spread like wildfire. I remember the school sent home a letter warning about headslice, and within a week both my daughters had them. I bought some stuiff (Rid?) to kill them, also a special nit comb. I treated both my kids and myself. Washed all their bedding, tumbled their stuffed anuimals in the dryer, vacuumed over and over. Got rid of them but what a lot of work! My dog got fleas while in a kennel. I had my dog and three cats all flea-dipped at the vet. Meanwhile I set off three flea bombs in my house. I then had to wash all my dishes to get rid of any poison residue. I noticed no fleas or spiders for several months after that.
