Tumbled Travertine for Backsplash

If you have a tumbled travertine backsplash, cherry cabinets and black granite countertops, what color are your walls in your kitchen?? I am having a difficult time deciding on a wall color. I need to stay in the gold family if I can due to my dinning room will have to be the same color as my kitchen and I have a red and gold dinning room set that I cannot replace right now. My problem is getting a color that works with the backsplash or am I over reacting???? Help Please, Thank You

I'm planning on using the same color scheme for my kitchen (we start demo next week - eek!). I currently have Benjamin Moore Moccasin in my dining room and will run that into the kitchen once the wall comes down. It looks great with the cherry/black/travertine combo.

I have similiar palette

I took samples of stone,cabs, tile to the local BM paint shop & left it there for the paint guru - he came up w/this color

Thanks for your ideas sweeby. I am afraid it may seem a little bland with everything so neutral. I chose the quiet granite because I really want the eye to be drawn to the views out the windows, which are pretty wonderful. I want the house and everything in it to harmonize with the natural setting. I decided against slate because I thought the colors seemed too bold. I love the stone pebbles and will use them as accents in the bathrooms but think its just too much for a backsplash in a nice sized kitchen. The back and sides of the island will be stained beadboard and I have thought about using beadboard for the splash, but painted the same color as the walls (SW Grassland) or some complimentary color. Any thoughts?

I found these on the finished kitchens blog. We're planning on doing the same thing and there are a good number of pictures out there to get inspiration from. It can be done either way. If you seal before grouting, trust me-- it won't stop the grout from taking hold in the pits. The sealer gives you a little more time to work with it, but take it from experience-- if you leave the grout on the face, even after sealing, it'll stick just fine, nevermind in the pits. :-)

What color do you gals us for adjorning rooms? My living room can be seen from my dinning room and would like to paint the living room a coordinating color. Thanks you gals are so helpful

Gage - It's a custom color, the 2nd link above is DR pic which also happens to be custom - that color is matched to one in the wallpaper.
I just got tired making choices in a whole house renovation - the local paint guy was great & very willing -
Just thought the color scheme in general may help you w/your choices. If you have a good paint shop you could print out those photos bring sampls pieces of your kitchen & head to paint store

I have Santa Cecelia granite, medium oak cabinets, glossy almond b/s with travertine and brown glass mosaic accent. The paint is BM Monroe Bisque to match family and living room. The dining room is a warm red.
