America's Funniest Home Videos got me through some of the toughest days of my life. I credit with saving my life in a way.

I was diagnosed with a fatal neurological disease right after my son was born 22 years ago and was profoundly depressed. I was certain the grief alone was going to kill me. Yet when I watched that Funniest Home Videos, all my problems fell away and I laughed 'til I cried.

It took five years before it was determined my death sentence was a misdiagnoses. ... sigh

I love that show too. It gets me through rough times.The only problem is that my Lhaso thinks she is a critic and has to watch with me. She does not like other animals or birds.I will have to change the channel and tell her dog gone. Yes, I know she is spoiled but she loves me.

This is maybe the 3rd time I've read this one, and it's still funny. That woman Anne has a wry sense of humor. I think dogs are great, but they sure can be disgusting (like eating poop, rolling and hiding in dead carcasses, etc). Did anyone see the episode a few years ago in California's wine country? This spoiled, dry, unsmiling couple toured three gorgeous homes, large homes that anyone would consider to be dream homes. The man walked into one of the kitchens, a huge affair with cherry cabinets, granite counters, stainless, etc., and pronounced it very low end. My DH and I were incredulous. If that was low end, what does he consider high end? Titanium appliances? Gold-plated fixtures? Diamond-encrusted cabinets? Sheesh! Also, I don't understand why people need these huge homes. 5000 sq. ft. might seem impressive, but don't you get lost in that? How do you keep it clean? How do you afford the maintenance. Repainting and reroofing a 50000 sq. ft. home is going to be much more costly than a 1500 sq. ft job. Do you really need a separate exercise room, a separate wine room, a separate play room, a separate theater? Don't even get me started on the spoiled 20-somethings who are buying their first home for $500,000 OR MORE and sneer that a perfectly serviceable kitchen or bathroom is a "gut job." My favorite HHI was the one in Slovenia where bees had built a hive in the house (or was it bats?) also the one in Buckinghamshire, England, with the thatched roof.

When my husband and I were selling our house last year, we went through a string of bad luck. We staged our home and put a lot of stuff in his office (he had his own business). Needless to say the building the office was in burned down and we lost a lot of pictures, but mostly just junk. We finally sold the house only to have the first buyers back out 4 days before the closing, but we were locked into buying our new house. We then put our home back on the market and prayed we would sell it in a newly SLOW market. Anyway we had many potential buyers come back and view the house 3 and 4 times but after 5 weeks still no offer. With the stress of holding 2 mortgages we were desperate. One day when my husband was commuting home from work it just so happened he was sitting next to a realtor. They got to talking about our house and she mentioned to him when ever she needed to get a house sold she would burn sage leaves to ward off evil spirits. That weekend we were holding an open house. Unbeknownst to me, as we were leaving the house my husband ran back in to "get something." He was taking a really long time so I ran in to find out what in the world he was doing. I saw him running through the living room with a smoking piece of aluminum foil and the overwhelming smell of burning herbs which smelled very illegal! I wanted to kill him. At the same time our realtor arrives and was nearly knocked back at the smell. At the time I didn't think it was funny and I was fuming. Needless to say, we got an offer that day, and we closed in 4 weeks. The ironic thing was our buyer was a Drug Enforcement Agent. He must of knew it was sage and not something else.

Annie, the zebra hat is the one I wore with the zebra skin outfit for the fetish ball, and I have a video for that party as well. I've worn it other times as well and it took some convincing for me to allow Michael to wear it to Dragstrip 66. Michael is the one on the cover photo wearing my zebra hat (plus earrings that I gave him) and a black & yellow print catsuit that he bought at a thrift store in Mar Vista, which is where I got my dress and shoes. I believe Michael got his shoes there also. The blue and blonde wigs I am wearing are from a wig shop in Culver City, owned by a Korean woman who was very helpful. We also shopped for wigs on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood (which is another experience) but did not buy any there, even though there was a much larger selection there. FOAS, front of the tongue for the "R" in "three." Eventually I might post the video of the pre-Fetish Ball party, also at my house in Venice, but it is not quite as interesting. It does feature the zebra outfit that I made, however, and so it might be worth it for that.

I love it too - no matter how bad the day is - that show will make me laugh.

My 9 yo loves that show. I'm not a fan like he is, but i get a kick out of watching him laugh.

Another fan here. Hubs said he can always tell when I'm watching the show on the TV in my room, from the loud laughter. In 2002 I had a bad summer with back surgert and was in the hospital for 4 months, when i got home, it was with a lot of meds, one being Zoloff (sp?) an anti-depression. One Sunday evening, I noticed I was watching AFV, just sitting there, so laughter or emotion. When I went to the Dr I asked why I was still on this pill and could I stop taking it. He said I could but had to do it gradually, whic I did. One Sunday I was watching the show, and surprised myself when I started laughing out loud, then I realized...I was back. Funny show. Dottie

I've always loved blooper-type shows. Anybody remember the old show Candid Camera? It caught people reacting to comical set-ups. I used to howl when it was on !

Jannie, yes I remember Candid Camera....so funny. One episode I remember is they teased a woman's long hair until it stuck straight out from her head, then sent her out on the street that way. The reaction of the public was hilarious. Dottie
