Kelly Ripa's penthouse is for sale

Got a spare $24.5 million? Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have put their SoHo apartment on the market. They bought it in 2005 and spent two years renovating it. I wonder why they're selling now. Maybe it's too big for them (almost 7,000 sq. ft.). One of their terraces has more square footage than my entire house.

The decor is too modern for my taste--and I wouldn't want Marilyn Monroe suffering in my kitchen--but I love those terraces! Picture #6 is my favorite.

How do you like it?

It is a lovely, roomy place, which is rare in NYC. However, I always think modern decor is cold.

Hi Susan,

Holy crap...that place is awesome! Could you imagine living in NYC in a place like that? Beautiful with lots of great light and lots of great rooms. The can sit 15 in their kitchen alone. Great party house!

I really love my Miele Induction cooktop. I also really love the rotisserie on my Miele oven. Love the way it looks and love the display. What I really dislike, I mean REALLY dislike is the way Miele Customer Service treats a warranty customer. My ovens are off in temp, my clock is running fast. I would like someone to come out and take a look at the oven. Miele went over voltage with me two times, it is correct. They will not send a person out, I DON'T GET IT! I have been in contact with the distributor. It has been three days, NOTHING! Again, what is going on? Even with my incredibly CRAPPY Electrolux refrigerator, they would at least come out, if only to try and fix a problem with a piece of tape; but Miele won't even do that. I am sure in the end, I WILL get service. Who knows when, but it will happen. I will be writing Germany. (There was someone on here who did, if you are that person, do you have the contact info?) Until this problem is remedied, I will NEVER recommend a Miele product to anyone, not even a dishwasher. I don't care if they do make great products, stand by the ones that do get through with a problem! IMO, Wolf has the best service - if I can ever afford to do this again, I will be buying a Wolf. And say what you want about Asko and issues with their DWs, they have been great. Courteous and prompt with replacing a broken wheel. Miele USA get your act together!

Wolfgang, Miele also makes a 30", tall built-in freezer on bottom (not just the all fridge). While you're looking for SZ deals you might keep your eyes peeled for a Miele deal. Re the water bottle test, I actually find that very informative. Surely the shelves are adjustable height (I did a quick web search but couldn't find mention of it, probably because one assumes that one can change the heights)? The fridge would be pretty useless if you couldn't change the heights of the shelves because you couldn't fit any tall things. A couple inches robbed from one shelf of water bottles is a shelf for jam jars, pints of cottage cheese, or packages of meat. A shelf the height of water bottles is good for bottles of condiments, big jars of pickles, coffee, etc. A really short opening is good for flat deli packages, carrots and celery that are too big for the produce section, casseroles, leftover pizza, jars of yeast, ghee, pickled herring, etc. Use the stolen inches for one high opening for standing asparagus and herb chillers, the big turkey, wine, soda and milk bottles, etc. Same for the doors. The point of the water bottle test is useable space. Some fridges have reported interior space that you can't actually shove a packet of peas into. Even without Trevor's test, I looked into a lot of fridges when I was shopping and rejected them as having impossible interiors. I should mention that I'm pretty good at spacial geometry and am the person people ask to help them pack. :) I chose Miele all fridge for many reasons, but liking the way the interior laid out for real world storage was a big one. There were other reasons why I didn't choose the Liebherr, but the interior layout was fine. :) If you're really unsure, load up a bunch of groceries into a couple of boxes and take them to the store to try it out. If it's a good store, they'll not only allow it, but the salesmen will crowd around and take pictures, and tout how well the appliance did when other shoppers come around.

Ah, sorry - you're right. I just tried to find a back view and found something even worse... Hot Dog Belovesie I don't see any opening for the eyes nose or mouth - guess you have to unzip it to see or breathe. But, it's ON SALE - $129.95, previously $159.95.

chisu, I forget that radio still exists with commercials. NPR is the only thing that I have tuned in for in several decades. I am always surprised when I might hear someones radio on a commercial station from a car parked beside me. I mean no disprespect for your listening choices, it is just that it always surprises me that it even still exists. I also never watch the old networks on the tv, either. As soon as I figure out how to keep getting the couple of things that I do engage with, I plan to cut that dammed cable cord. That is our single biggest monthy expense and neither of us watches anything but national news and streaming. Actually, I rarely ever even listen to NPR anymore, either. I like quiet and dont even keep the talking heads on the tv screen anymore. I cant bear the continuous pharmacutical commercials. Then the news of this nasty world comes on with serious impact to our very lives and our existence and we are hit with an ad for something so darned trivial that it makes my head spin. Really? from world devastation, fire, plague, trump and suddently I am not using the right fabric softener? Really? the right laundry product? Did you not just hear what is happening in the world? Now the advertiser expects to impact my buying and make me think about my what my laundry smells like? My eyes and my mind are crying in angst for our world!!!!!! It makes me sick to my soul and I prefer silence as I can do nothing about any of it.

It's hard to believe that a family lives there. It's hard to picture kids running around chasing the dog and spilling stuff.

Beautiful, but very cold.

It didn't strike me as looking like Kelly. That may sound funny but when you imagine a person or family living in a home, this doesn't seem to fit her. It just looks like a decorator's chance to do their thing. Doesn't strike me as a place I would like to live. I appreciate contemporary but this just doesn't have any appeal to me at all.

How about Madonna's 6,000 sq. ft. duplex, which is also on the market? Madonna seems to favor a minimalist approach to decor . . . or maybe she moved most of her stuff to her new place. I like Madonna's kitchen a lot better. And I love her bathroom! And her piano!

YogaLady, we once checked out The Manhattan Club (the only time share in Manhattan). It would be cheaper if we all pooled our resources and bought Kelly's apartment. LOL We would need a little redecorating though. I wouldn't even want to spend a week there.

I do like the terrace. The rest looks like the inside of an expensive motel. I couldn't call a place like that home.

Does anyone here watch Castle on ABC on Monday nights? If so, is Kelly Ripa's building the same building that is shown on Castle when they do scenes at his penthouse?

I do NOT think modern is cold....I think it's up-to-date. :0) I was once told my house looked like an old lady lived there. :0) I did not consider THAT a compliment.....lol

Hmmm, think I'll keep my 24 million tucked away!! LOL! The only thing I liked about Kelly's is the outside area. Didn't like Madonna's at all. :)

I like it. I would live there if I had the money. But since I don't I guess I'll stay in my house. I would like to update my house but not sure that I'd do it this way.

Wow. I love the location and the outdoor space. I presume that if i could afford to buy it I also could afford to renovate and redecorate. Right now it doesn't look like a family home at all. I wonder where they are moving?

I'd love to be filthy rich.

I bet when Kelly and her family are there it looks more lived in and cozy~~~the pics are done for the sale of the place. They have people that can come in and stage your house for resale~~~I think they take stuff out and put it in storage, to make places look bigger~~~I bet a stager could even make my house look good;)
