Need Old Radiator Help (Gas Steam Boiler)

Our home is from 1885 and has single pipe steam radiators. Last year we completely replaced the oil boiler with a gas one.

There is one thermostat for the entire house (6000 sqft, three levels above grade) on the first floor.

Now My Question:

We leave the thermostat usually at 68 degrees. The house is normally comfortable until like 2 in the morning and then the 2nd and 3rd floors get very warm (76-78 degrees). Now the thermostat temp doesn't change from the 68.

Any clue what would be causing all of the radiators to get really warm in the middle of the night?
