Do you need extra floor support?

I am getting a Bluestar 36" RNB range. I am wondering if anyone put in extra floor supports under your range? We put in extra supports under our clawfoot tub and where my husband is going to be putting a very heavy gun safe. It just got me thinking. The range will be on a 2x6 exterior wall so I am thinking no but now is the time to add it in if we need to.

Very likely not necessary. I'm guessing your tub is cast iron, in which case when in use it weighs about twice as much as your range.

Of course a rigorous analysis of such things includes many factors, including joist species & grade, dimensions, spacing, and span, as well as where on the span the load is resting (near the end of a span as in your case is good) and what other loads the joists in question are bearing.

I sounds to me that "GauchoGordo" is correct.
In most cases you're likely to be OK.
If you'd like a little extra "insurance", you might want to sister the existing floor joists under the range.

I have the same thing with my trellisis (trelli?). the answer to your question is "sometimes" or "better safe than sorry". Even when the plant gets up to the trellis it still has to grow quite a bit before the the upper portion is strong enough to hold the plant on the trellis in a decent wind/rain storm. A short stick or a simple drop line tied to the base of the plant and wrapped around the stemt a time or two is good enough.

We are using plank tiles in 2 different lengths and the tile store suggested 15%. I just had to order 18 more boxes of the longer length. I wish the owners of the first house we owned had kept extra marble tiles. We updated the 15 year old tub faucets and the plumber had to break some of the tiles. I spent hours going to different tile shops and stone yards trying to find marble to match 15 year old tiles. It was a pain. I found something that was close enough, but not perfect.

Our raised bar on the peninsula will be 18" wide. About 5" of it will rest on the supporting wall; about 1" will overhang on the counter side; and about 12" will overhang on the other side where bar stools will be placed. It will be granite and therefore pretty heavy - its 7' long. We didn't want corbels to interfere with seating, so our granite fabricator is routing the underside of the granite and installing 1/4" steel plates under the bar (every 18" or so) as supports. The routing allows the steel plates to be flush with the underside of the bar. They will be visible only if one bends over and looks up underneath the bar. They charged nothing extra for doing this.

It depends.

It depends on the age of your home. If your house is relatively modern (40 years or so), I wouldn't worry about it at all.

If your home is older, check the size and spacing of the floor framing and compare it to modern standards. It's a good thing they don't build 'em like they used to.
