Look at the outlet Jodi. I've found a lot of things cheaper here. I got a rug once that was over $100. at HD, but the extact rug was only $40. at the outlet!

I usually have a coupon code for HDO, but I couldn't find one today.

I use the pop up ones that Walmart sells. They are pretty good and easy to carry even full of clothes. The ones I use are very round and about 30-36 inches high.

I didn't know there were such hampers as those shown in the links. Very attractive, and a far cry from the old wicker ones.

Many years ago when we redid our bathroom, I had the vanity built with a pullout hamper on one end. I had never seen one like that, so I thought I had "invented" it.

Where I am now, I have a plastic laundry basket on the floor of my linen closet.

But with your situation, Jodi, I would want the hamper to have wheels. Seriously.

Lydia, thanks for the additional link for Home Decorators. I didn't know they had an outlet site. I found all kinds of stuff there I would like, but only one was a hamper that might work.

I just took measurements of the one and only area I have to put a double hamper. It can be between 35"-40" wide and no more 14" deep. It appears those are fairly common measurements for wide double hampers.

After seeing the furniture quality hampers, there is no going back for me, especially since it is the first thing you see when you walk into the room.

Sjerin, I checked both The Container Store and Pottery Barn and neither of them offer furniture quality hampers. When I see the prices they sell wicker for, I could buy a furniture double hamper for the same cost as two wicker hampers.

Sue, as it turns out, many of the furniture hampers come with removable bags for an easy trip to the washer. That will be nice since we've been just grabbing an armful and heading to the laundry room the last 28 years.

Storage boxes, pop-up and basket hampers are too small and informal for my situation.

Do you have Bed, Bath and Beyond stores? Or have you looked at their site online, Jodi? The last time I was looking for a hamper, they lots of nice, pretty, furniturey looking ones.

Jody, we have the same dilemma. Laundry all the way at the other end of the house. So far, DH walks his stuff there at the end of the day. I have a wire hamper with a cloth liner in the other bathroom, where I shower, and use that.

I have been thinking of getting Jerry a hamper, and will have to check those links out. My plan is, to just take his laundry with me after I get up in the morning and head to the kitchen (the laundry room is just past the kitchen), and sort it in the baskets I have there. Just three, one for lights, one for darks, and one for dress shirts.

Flamey, I've already checked out our BB&B and their high end hampers are a casual looking bamboo, wood or wicker. Same on the web site as well. Nothing that looks like furniture.

Moni, the washer and dryer are actually in the garage. Clothes would end up in a huge pile right in the bedroom doorway until the workweek is over. I would be just as guilty. Nope, gotta have something in the bedroom.

I love having my laundry room in my big bathroom after it being on the lower level when we bought the house. Makes it so much easier carrying the laundry to the bedrooms. All that has to go down are dish towels and such. Just have a Rubbermaid hamper and it does have wheels, had it before the move upstairs.

I'd check Bed Bath and Beyond, maybe you could set 2 wastevaskets side by side for lights and darks. But here's what I do: I have one hamper in my bedroom designated only for darks. I keep my washer lid open and throw lights in there every day, sometimes several times a day. When the washer is full, I do a large load. Then I go in the bedroom and bring down the hamper, it's generally half-full, so I run a second smaller load. I find I need to do laundry three-four times a week.

I use large size rectangular plastic wastebaskets in our closets: one for whites and one for darks. I combine our whites and darks before toting them to the washer.

Have a wicker basket with leather handles and a cloth insert to bring clean clothes back to the BR.

i dont use a hamper,one good reason to be married to a builder.I have a laundry shoot,goes right to washer and dryer.love it.

I'd love to have a laundry shoot! ... but first, I need to buy a two-story house. :-)
