I've really bonded with the painter and his family. The painter finished painting the interior of our home about 3 weeks ago and then headed back to NYC to work up there for maybe 6 weeks. I called his wife last night and she returned the call a couple of hours ago. We talked, made a luncheon plan then it changed. We talked bread and she jumped on it. Both she and her 10 yr old daughter will come over on Saturday for bread making lessons. This is gonna be fun!! We will do a big Italian bread (they are Italian), some sourdough and then cinnamon rolls. We will work by hand, by mixer and by bread machine. When her husband returns, he will be impressed because I know his wife will make bread for him. Being from NYC, they hate the bread here in town. So do I.
I've taught breadmaking to neighbors before, but its been 10 years. I'm looking forward to it and she is jumping for joy. Truly, I think it is the responsibility of the older generation to teach the younger if they want to learn. I'm 61 and she is mid 30's. Slinky and beautiful and so NYC.
Amazing where and how we make friends! We couldn't be more different, but sharing a skill is fun, fun, fun!
