Shopping for new washer and dryer is making me nuts !!
Comments (35)Well, I'm here to tell you !! I never in my life imagined that I'd be so darn excited about doing laundry !!!! We ended up getting the Miele 4840 washer, and the gas dryer. The difference in how clean the clothes get is absolutely amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm major impressed, and actually DH and DS have commented positively, also, which is amazing in itself !!!!!!!!!!!!! The first few loads of clothes that I did . . . well, just sat in front of the washer and watched it !!! Can't believe how quiet, how little water, all that !! (Neighbors even came by to watch it and were equally amazed !! Do ya think we need to get a life here in this neighborhood ????!!!!!!!) I'm also using the Persil detergent, both liquid and powder, which is kinda pricey, but so little of it is used . . . and the smell is so fresh, without any fake perfumey smells . . . Do I sound like some kind of commercial here ???? !!!!! Well, anyway . . . that's the scoop on the w/d saga . . . Glad the decision making process is a done deal, and that I am totally thrilled with it all !!! Now . . . hopefully no more decisions on anything for a really long time, no angst . . . except that we're re-doing both of our bathrooms right now . . . so here we go again !!!!! Comments (41)It's actually Whirlpool's patented "Catalyst" system. What happens is at the beginning of the wash cycle the washer adds just enough water to mix with the detergent to create a super high concentrated mix. Then the washer spins the clothes at a few hundred rpm to plaster them against the side of the wash tub, and then pumps and sprays the detergent concentration mixture onto the clothes from the inside. What happens then is the detergent mixture is then extruded through the clothes by centrifugal force from the spinning wash tub. When water & detergent get through the clothes they drain into the bottom of the outer wash tub, and then get pumped and sprayed again. It's Whirlpool's way of getting super concentrated detergent into the clothes before the washer has to fill up with enough water to float the clothes. It's a very effective cleaning method on soils and stains that respond best to the chemical action of detergent....See MoreAnd the winner is . . . Kenmore 41172/91172 [built by LG]
Comments (17)Didn't occur to me to check that! Good thinking, QuitePossibly--thanks! If in fact they are LGs, we currently have, basically, the same LG washer/dryer now, but in stainless. The only difference is that the Kenmore units are slightly more-current, but most importantly, are white-on-white. In general, we've been pretty satisfied with the performance of our LG machines, so I'm pleased to know these are actually LG products beneath the Kenmore nameplate. Even though our six-year-old LG machines are still working, I'm spending money on brand-new machines purely as a cosmetic refresh--a bit frivolous, I know. Since we're finally re-doing the laundry area (it's last part of the house that needs remodeling), I thought it was worth the expense. Comments (84)I have a Kenmore Elite, top-Loading Automatic Washer; purchased on 12/3/10. tonight I was watching TV with my son and we heard a noise so loud we just ran out of the room. We had no idea what it was. Well...I walk into my laundry room and the ENTIRE TOP OF THE WASHER literally blew off. The drum is on the floor inside the housing; housing is all dented, the plastic brackets or whatever you call them are all broken. The force was so strong, it pushed into my dryer and dented the drum. So I have my little master protection plan and call SEars. They tell me the FIRST available for anyone to come look at it is January 5th...... I have been waiting for a call back from a supervisor for an hour already and will call again. The water is leaking everywhere and I don't even want to go look at my basement ceiling. I am still shaking from the entire episode because it was so loud. This isn't rocket science either . . . it would take about 5 seconds for someone to walk in my laundry room, say - oh yeah - that's broken - and haul it out of here. What has happened to Sears!!!! I have never had this kind of a problem with ANY appliance I have had from them. I wish i could figure out how to add a picture so you could all see this. . . ....See Morestudio460
