I remember "The Blob"! Never did finish watching it, too scary for me. I would rather do the spice drawer too! LOL

Yaya ~ That is funny about The Blob. That movie scared me more than any other I can remember. My sister and brother and I went to a theater about 5 blocks from home to see it. It must have been in the late afternoon when we went because it was getting dark when we got out of the theater. The street we had to go home on was a 4 lane Avenue with a wide median strip in the middle. There were a lot of trees on that strip. We just knew that the blob was in those trees, creeping from one to the other and growing bigger and bigger with each tree. We probably broke olympic records running home that day to escape him.

"The Blob" wasn't as scary to me as "Caltiki, The Immortal Monster"....anyone remember that one? It took place in Mexico, amongst the Mayan ruins. Shudder!!!

I know how she feels, YaYa- when I see films from even 20 years ago, I think the special effects are so lame.

Hey, the last time I organized the spices alphabetically, I got accused of messing them all up. Men. lolol

I saw The Blob in a theater when I was around 8. It was about 35 cents at the time. When it rolled under that car and sucked up the mechanic lying under there, that was it for me! I left by the side door and ran out so fast that the door stayed open. I could hear 'Shut that door!!!' from the other kids inside. Later on I took a lot of kidding from my friends, calling me a chicken.

Funny thing is I never saw the end until around '78 or '79 when it was shown on a local Saturday afternoon show called 'Mad Theater' hosted by Dr. Shock, a character based on RoLAND (Zacherley)

On All My Children they brought back a couple of characters from 20 years ago and the soap channel showed some of the old episodes.

I'm glad I didn't know how poor the acting was and how dramatic every sentence sounded at the time.

I'm sure 20 years from now what we watch will seem silly.

Last weekend I watched season one of The Wire, HBO series. It's amazing how many times they can use eff in an hour. One of the kids on that show used to be on All My Children. It was most shocking to hear him talk like that.

That movie gave me nightmares when it first came out. But I would probably laugh at it now. I can't believe how sophisticated special effects have become today. Even a cheap B movie today has better CG special effects then they did in the blockbuster movies of 20 years ago.

DR SHOCK! I loved Dr Shock! I still love the old "B" horror movies, yeah the kids think I'm corny. I grew up watching him on Saturday mornings and either Friday or Saturday (I can't remember) late night. Was it on 48 or 29? Lord my memory is gone.

I live 30 minutes from the theatre that was filmed in that movie. Believe it or not, they have an annual re-enactment of the crowd fleeing from the Colonial movie theater in the classic Blob movie.

It makes newspaper headlines each year, and huge crowds go to see it. It's what the town of Phoenixville is known for.

LOL I loved "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"!! Some of my other favorites are Stephen King's "Christine" and an old B-type movie called, "The Town Who Feared Sundown"! LOL

Twink just LUVS it when I get out a bunch of those and some popcorn! LOL Also love the original "Psycho" - not crazy about any of the others but I've seen them.

Anyone remember "Swamp Thing"?
But, for scary stuff, those dang flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz still give me the heebie jeebies.

I like Invasion of The Body Snatchers the best.....all three versions but The Blob was great, too.
Loved Invasion of the Killer Tomatoes and wasn't the movie about the giant ants "Them"?
All those movies were popular when I was a teenager and we always went to the drive in to see them.....I always watched the movie! (Well, almost always.)

I know those flying monkeys always give me the creeps. I can barely watch them and always have crazy dreams after watching them. That being said my 4 year old was a wicked witch and my 2 year old was her flying monkey;)

I had a couple kids like that too. DD was two and a half when her little brother was born. As soon as she'd think of something she could talk him into trying it. And he still has a couple scars to show for it. They're 26 and 24 now and still buds.

on rare occasions when my brother would have to babysit me....he'd subject me to "Sammy Terry" Nightmare Theatre...i couldn't have been 7 or 8 and would have nightmares for months!! I missed the "Blob" first time round...but saw it recently...

Don't feel bad, I once rented a series of Night Gallery and the Outer Limit tv shows and had the kids watch them with me. They thought they were lame.

The Blob used to be a favorite growing up, along with Night of the Living Dead. My dd has seen parts of the Blob, and turned to me and said, "OK"....

What is the name of that movie where the doctor or scientist has the woman's head. Can't remember the point or reason he just had her head, or if he planned to attach it to some unsuspecting victim. Anyone remember that one?

In the 1960's one of the TV networks in Buffalo NY showed two horror movies every Friday night. My younger brother and I watched all of them. I fondly remember The Blob. Did you notice the female lead is played by Aneta Corsaut, Helen Crump from The Andy Griffith Show? My favorite horror movie of All Time is The Crawling Eye. I bought a DVD of it for my brother as a Christmas gift.

I looked up the movie I was referring to, and it is "The Brain That Wouldn't Die." Another one that scared me to death was "The Tingler" with Vincent Price. Anyone remember those?

My first scary one was the House of Usher with Vincent Price. Or was it the House of Wax. Sheesh, how can I possibly remember that far back. LOL They scared the begeesus outta me "then". :) The Blob gave me nightmares "then". lol

Oh, how about Night of the Lepus? About the giant killer rabbits. Good movie! ( : or the one about the killer frogs...I think it was called Frogs, but can't really remember. The setting was in a swamp.
