This just cracks me up

People parallel parking in front of our office. Can't believe how many people pull up, back up, pull a little forward, back up a little more, pull a little bit forward...there's no one else on the darn block. I just pull right up and get out of my car.

Thanks Jeaninwa. To answer your question, all the B&W pics I have posted where changed to B&W on the computer. Lastly, about "cheating" to edit photos on a computer, I asked the same question here once upon a time. The way I have come to see it is that 1) its hard to cheat where you are just putting up stuff for folks to enjoy unless you misrepresent what and how you did something, 2) unless you are entering a contest or need pics in a certain form for technical reasons, adjusting colors, texture and sharpness, etc to reflect what your eye saw is really just compensating for the camera's weaknesses as well as any oversights or lack of skill by the photographer. I admire and applaud those photographers skilled enough to get it like it was without editing and think they should be able to take a bow by noting that there has been no editing. But, for most of the rest of us, its like churning out documents in an office. If the idea is to have a nice looking report, do you really need to do it on a typewriter where every key stroke counts, or is it ok to do it on a computer where the vision of the person running the computer program can come through and is what counts? I like to think its the vision that can be captured and gotten into the form intended that counts more than how. My sister is a pro who has a 5000 dollar dig SLR. In most situations she just needs to set it right and click. Any reason if I can get my camera's pic to look about as good with a little editing, its "cheating"? Ultimately, I think technology will answer that question along the lines I suggest above. Cameras are going to get smart enough on their own so that no one will need to know the technicalities of how to take pictures like "real" photographers HAD to once upon a time.

Gerina, It's peaceful and supportive....hahaha. We don't knitpick and tear down each other. For sure try to get over there. Today was sister's day at the Home. We changed it to lunchtime now. I took an Arby's roast beef out of the freezer to take to that. Then tonight, one sister and I went to a dinner at the Amish families house. Here was the meal:Mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade noodles with lots of chicken in them, barbecued chicken, mixed fresh vegetables, cole slaw salad, homemade bread and jam, tea or coffee to drink......3 different desserts: choc pie, pecan pie, and angel food cake topped with peaches. I've been using our CSO more lately and have had some thoughts about their use and was wondering if anyone has softened butter in them (presumably without steam) and at what temp. Also, has anyone use them to sanitize their kitchen scrubbers? At what temp for how long? With or without steam? My last thought just cracks me up and is kind of wrong...but I'm wondering if anyone has steamed live crab in their steam oven? It would be so much easier than getting out our canner as a steaming vessel as we've done in the past but I'm not sure I could watch through the glass window! Maybe I need to, to make sure I can look my (very tasty) food in the eye! Thoughts?

I can visualize what you are talking about, sounds like me trying to park.

In May we were in old San Juan, Puerto Rico and you would not believe the parking. The streets were two lane and one lane was parked cars, about 6 inches apart. Someone would pull out and here was someone else ready to park and they did a great job. Many times we thought that the vehicle would not fit in the spot and they didn't zig zag in and out, about two moves and they were in there.
I kept wandering what would happen if our taxi met another car, who would have to back out, but it didn't happen.

I guess they have their system and like in Mexico the horn is supreme, there was alot of honking going on!

I'm an expert at parallel parking, having lived in West Hollywood, LOL.

A friend rented a car in Paris and parked on the street to go to dinner. When she came back she started to cry (she's a crier) because the car was squished in by the other cars. Some guys helped her by picking up the tiny car and moving it out of the spot!

My DM didn't learn to drive until she was in her 40's, when she realized I might not be living with her forever, she decided it was time to get her license. We had a 2 1/2 car garage with one big garage door.

I drove up one day and her car was side ways in the garage. When I asked her why, she said that she knew she needed to be way over to left side, so I'd have room to put my car in. But after an hour of trying to jockey the car around, she gave up.

I still tease her....

When I took my drivers test in the '60's, the officer strapped himself in tight and told me to parallel park. I pulled forward; turned; pulled forward; turned, etc. He finally told me to continue on; and finally at the end (I passed the test), he asked, "Do you know what you could have done to have successfully parallel parked?" "No, what?" I asked. "PULL OUT AND START OVER!", he cried! Oh well, like I said, I passed! Still driving, but I always remember that advice when I'm trying park.
