'Saffron' dining room - what color is this???

I have been lusting over this color for about a year now. In our last house, I attempted to figure it out but after 5 sample cans of orange/saffron duds, I gave up.

I'm on the hunt again and was hoping someone knows what it is or has a color that would approximate it.

It's from Antonio Hutt and was featured in an Elle Decor issue.

i have a color stick from sw, and if the picture is "true", sw6884, obstinate orange is fairly close...

I don't have Medallion saffron but i have crown point cornsilk and it is very similar. I have a chestnut colored island and cooktop/hood to kinda break up the yellow, then, get this, I have purple walls. Now it is not eggplant purple, it is more like a grayish purple, in fact, in the evening light it looks more gray. the fabric valance over my window is a purple/yellow/ green plaid with yellow fringe. it took me 5 years before i could decide what color to paint my kitchen but now i just love it. if i can figure out how to post a picture, i will. i think the other color you could go with is a soft green or of course an ivory would be the safe choice

Thanks everyone! We are installing hardwood throughout the entire downstairs.The revere pewter is actually through french doors off of both rooms but you can't really see itwell from either room so I am not so worried about that going with the other rooms as much. It is mainly this view I want to flow well. I considered van cortland blue for the formal living room but it might be too dark/bold for me. I tend to be more neutral/conservative when decorating. And yes I love the yarmouth blue but don't think I want it everywhere. It looks perfect in the dining room.

And once you get your items in the space, you will see what the colors really look like with your lighting. Trying to find a gray that works is the subject of many., many posts on Houzz. I would recommend an in-home color consultation. With all that light, you should be able to do some fun accent walls (maybe a cool wallpaper behind the entertainment center). The key to making in homey are the plants, textures, and larger-scale knick-knacks. The thing to keep in mind is the dark wood floor you will have. You will want to choose rugs that bring the light down onto your floor.

I suggest cream or off white! My dining room table came with 6 chairs but can seat 8 and when we have that many for dinner, I mix the chairs up between the all wood chairs that came with the table and cream colored Parson's chairs and it works!

you do realize that a photo color, espcially of such an intense color, won't be the same in your room...remember that room was professionally photographed, and your natural light, or lights will change it (even with the same paint)

Susan - yes, I realize that what I *see* on my monitor will likely be different than what ends up on my walls - even if I were to actually find the right color - due to room orientation, lighting, space, etc...

I was hoping to get close to it before picking up swatches & then samples.

I would describe what it is as deep coral or poppy, but what I know to be called Saffron is an intense yellow with a little orange thrown in (exactly the color of the robes Buddhist monks wear).

I also thought saffron was more of a goldy orange (based on the actual color of the spice saffron), but on my monitor, the room color reads deep apricot, and is a lovely and lively color.

For BM, look at Salsa Dancing or Moroccan Spice (Aura fandeck). For C2, Vroom, Tiger Lily or Nevada. C2 has a lot of great oranges, reds and pinks, and looking at their fandeck, it seems as if there are a lot of possibilities.

Thanks for all the color/brand suggestions.

I have always thought of saffron as a goldish yellow with tinge of orange like well, saffron! It's interesting how people "name" colors as they see it. I've seen the same photo on other blogs described as persimmon which I think might be a little more accurate.
