Matte or glossy backsplash tile? Have matte finish Corian counter
Comments (1)I had the same question - we have glossy granite and I decided to go with matte tiles, and people said it gives a good contrast similar to matte soapstone with glossy tile. It's really a matter of preference I think. Matte has a much more "quiet" look so if you like that, go for it. I think if you're doing a herringbone design it may look better with glossy tile. I can't remember who did it...I believe Mamadadapaige has a herringbone design with really nice glossy tile. I THINK she has matte soapstone....See MoreBacksplash help: should I be looking for a matte finish tile?
Comments (31)Check out a line by florida tile-Pietra Art/Classic Mosaics. 3x6 subway /China White---you can get in polished or honed. Even the polished isn't super shiny. It's on one of the many boards I have home now.. I don't know price yet. We haven't gotten that far. I really like the looks of the product though. #1 for me right now. Good luck in the search. P.S.--there's also one on the board called White Statuary that looks interesting....See Moreanother backsplash question - mixing matte and shiny
Comments (4)I did a matte/shiny mix, I think because I saw eam's Heath photo when I first started on this forum; and I immediately loved it. I had a 4x4 area behind my sink, visible from our living room, to tile ETA: and I wanted the tile to be the focal point. I was working with a local handmade tile company, so I had their design input about proportion. I think we just did 70 matte/ 30 shiny though. My husband laid our tile and you get it random by not using a formula. I'm hoping another poster, enzaenza, chimes in here because I think she had a professional lay her matte/shiny Fireclay tile. Heath Tile, Fireclay or my company, Mercury Mosaics, probably all show examples on their sites....See Morewish Matte backsplash was shiny
Comments (7)This is my third try answering, just now. We thought the shiny black countertops were pretty swanky looking, but the matte backsplash looked a little too caasual. Lowe's had a produc t (sorry, I don't remember the name) that you just rub on with a rag, and it helped them to shine....See MoreRelated Professionals
