Can anyone endorce a product they have used to get rid of dark circles that doesnt cost an arm and a leg???I tried a sample of hydroxotone but it irritated my eyes too much to continue use.

I don't think there's a product that will get rid of them but Dermablend concealer certainly will.

Another vote for Dermablend, it's a concealer. The darkness is under the skin, can be caused from allergies, I don't know of anything that will remove a dark circle.

Something that helps me a lot with dark areas under my eyes (and sunken in eyes) is white mulberries (the actual berries—not the leaves, although I'm not sure whether or not the leaves help there, too). I have a lot of other issues that eating white mulberries alleviate, too (chronic constipation, depression, involuntary movements, auras, etc.; they strengthen my immune system, and I only get sick maybe once or twice a year, now, instead of every other month, and when I do get sick, it doesn't last as long; I should note that although it alleviates constipation, it doesn't give me anything like diarrhea if I eat too many; the berries seem to have an antimicrobial effect, and they make my lungs feel good right after I eat them when I breathe in). If I stop eating them, the issues come back, though, but it's pretty miraculous how they make them go away. I only need to eat a few berries a day. I think a few in the morning and a few at night works best (you don't need to eat loads of them). I didn't need to eat hardly any at all when I first started taking them, though (1-3 berries a day; I don't need many more than that now, but I usually eat at least 4 twice a day, although usually more than that: they do taste pretty good). Be consistent with when you take them. They sell them at The Grocery Outlet here locally (but nuts.com also sells them). When I first started taking them, if I ate too many (then too many wasn't very many), it would make me more depressed instead of less depressed (but I don't notice that happening so much anymore if I eat lots of them). So, dosage may matter. Does he have any other issues? Does he have light sensitivity (to indoor light), by chance? I do (especially to fluorescent light), and I think it's related, for me. Using computers a lot, I think, can make dark areas under the eyes worse. If you take vitamin D3 (at least 400iu a day), that should lessen the light sensitivity considerably.

Boing eye concealer by benefit works well for me. The right shade is really important, IME. Too light makes things worse. I've started using caffeine drops. I can't believe the difference in a week! I started using this plus Avons Vitamin C serum and Marula Oil from the website I'm posting the link to below. First I wash really well, then put the Avon Vitamin C oil (2 drops) over my entire face. I let that soak in for a few minutes then put one drop of Caffeine serum on each eye focusing on the bags under my eyes. I let that soak in before putting 2 or 3 drops of Marula oil all over my face, then I apply Nivea CoQ10 lotion. The bag under my left eye is almost gone! 3katz, I get Botox 4 times a year, 1/2 syringe I think, mostly in my forehead, between my eyes (those two vertical lines between my eyes, know what I mean?). It runs about $300 a session because there's a points program you can apply to future costs. Where I go this would cost Ida $600 since she gets Botox twice a year. I don't color my hair. If I did, I'd need a touchup at least every 4-6 weeks. I'd want it done well. How much do I save not having to do that? I just looked at prices on a couple of invoices I saved. With discounts, I paid $875 for Voluma and $495 for Restylane. The Voluma lasts a year or so, fills general low spots and deeper lines. I don't use it to inflate my cheekbones which are fine. Restylane is for my undereye area and will last 15-18 months. It's the difference between a hollow, haggard look and a smooth area that doesn't look "done" at all. So, based on my usage, it costs me maybe $200/month, although I don't get stuff every month. As others have said, we all have things we care a lot about, that others would consider nonessential, even frivolous or shallow. Why shell out money for new bedding? Who's gonna see my bedroom anyway, and why do I care what they think of it? My car is 15 years old and it drives just fine. If I were unable to afford groceries or pay my utilities on time because of my vanity expenses, I would have a problem. I have enough of what I need. I can even give some away. If someone wants to feel better about their appearance (hello, makeup? haircut? laundered clothes?), go forth and do so.

Arnica can sometimes help bruising, and I have heard of people using arnica cream for dark circles under the eyes.

I always have dark circles under my eyes. People say kidney, or allergy, etc. My doctor said it is because I don't get enough sleep (eye roll). Finally friends convinced me to go see a chinese herbalist. They said he could look in my eyes, at my tongue, etc. and diagnose whatever is wrong with me.

So I went. He peered at my eyes (a long time, and an inch away ROFL). He looked at my tongue. He stared at the skin on my face and hands with a magnifying glass. His diagnosis?

I have thin skin. ROFLMAO!

Have you ever tried Sudden Change under eye serum? It doesn't get rid of dark circles, but it temporarily tightens the skin under the eye, and I think it makes the dark circles look less intense. You can mix a little concealer or makeup in the serum if you wear that.

I know it only lasts for a little while, but DANG! It sure looks good while it lasts! It only takes the smallest drop on the tip of your finger. Rub it under your eye and as it dries - years fly off your face - LOL! I found it at WalMart. It isn't too expensive and lasts forever.

iowagirl, it really works? Really? That's freakin' awesome. I have dark circles, (allergies) and the skin under my eyes is almost like sunken in and droopy, just the opposite of bags under the eyes.

I'm sure it's from the decades of me intensely rubbing my itchy irritated eyes from all my allergies. They are much better now compared to how bad they used to be.

I'm going to have to try Sudden Change. Thanks!

I like it. It is very temporary, but I like the results. The key is to use a very small amount. Swipe it under the eye and just hold your face naturally as it dries. It takes a second or two to dry. I have mixed concealer with it, but I don't wear much makeup, so I usually just use it plain.

I have used a little light powder on my face (oily skin here!) and it works fine over the top of the Sudden Change.

I've tried all those coverups, I've eye circles since I was 11. My doc says the cause is thin skin and veins close to the surface. In other words, heredity.
