Sticking your finger in the pickle or olive jar. Please use a fork.

Not putting the twist tie back on the bread? Errrrr!

I hate clearing off the table. I don't mind washing dishes though. I have a dish washer but don't ever use it! I'm thinking how dumb of me to even have one installed.

My pet peeve is finding that someone left the tiniest amount of something that would not be enough for the next person to even have a serving. This is done in order to avoid having to make more juice, or put in a new milk bag, or put the empty serving dish into the dishwasher, etc. I consider it very rude and lazy and keep drilling this into my kids.

I can't stand it when my husband (or grown sons when they are here) leave dirty dishes in the kitchen sink when the dishwasher is right there....and ready for dirty dishes. I always keep it clear of the clean dishes ASAP. That's why I didn't put panels on the dishwasher...they would claim they couldn't find it!

Of course, I'm obsessed about keeping all white sinks and toilets spotless! LOL

Oh ya....pickyshopper! That one is also on the top of my list. Like what are you suppose to do with a teaspoon or one ounce of something?

I really don't like when DH "flicks" his wet hands two or three times after washing them. He gets water all over the window (or the mirror, when in the bathroom)!

I also hate when he uses his fork in the margarine instead of a butter knife. I don't like those lines in my margarine. And sometimes he gets bits of mashed potatoes or broccoli in the margarine. Yuk!

When DH makes eggs for himself (pretty much the only thing he cooks) he always gets egg on the counter and never cleans it up. And he cooks eggs too high, so it splatters all over the stove, which I've usually just cleaned. (Luckily, he makes eggs only a couple times a month.)

He also leaves his coffee mug in the sink instead of putting it in the dishwasher. This stumps me, because he puts his lunch and dinner dishes in the dishwasher, but not the coffee mug.

But overall I guess I have it pretty good. He doesn't do most of the things that others have listed.

My pet kitchen peeve is that it is always there every morning when I get up. I hate cooking.

Kids putting empty bottles, milk jugs, etc...back into the fridge. Putting utensils on the garbage disposal side of the sink! Leaving milk to curdle in their bedrooms so that when the cup or glass is recovered, you have to empty a chunk of nasty smelling white stuff out into the sink.

Making something without me and leaving the mess for me.

People who walk through the kitchen when I'm cooking and help themselves to anything I might be chopping, browning, etc.

People who rinse and stack the dishes but cannot somehow find it possible to open the dishwasher and put them IN!!!

People who throw trash in the kit. sink so the "maid" has to walk it to the trash.

I'm sure there's more if I think a little...

When they microwave something like soup and don't cover it. Then later there is dried-on crud all over the microwave. How hard is it to pull off a paper towel or sheet of waxed paper to cover the bowl?

And my DH, bless his heart, makes wonderful coffee, but he always manages to leave coffee grinds all over. Don't know if he stands on the other side of the room and tries to toss them into the filter, or what. LOL

And when someone (not me of course LOL) unloads the dishwasher and puts an item that didn't come clean into the cupboard. It's always fun when I have labored over a recipe, to pull out a dirty casserole dish that I have to stop and scrub!

Ohhh Linda......I didn't know anyone else didn't put their ketchup and mustard in the fridge.I rarely eat either one but DH will have a fit if anyone puts either in the fridge.He says,"Who likes cold ketchup or mustard on fries or a sandwich?" I'm glad to know someone else feels the same way.LOL

I thought condiments HAD to be refridgerated once opened...or we'd die?

Cans in the garbage instead of the recycling bin. The two containers are right next to each other in the very same cabinet.

Dipping a spoon, wet with coffee, into my sugar canister. Please use the sugar cubes located right NEXT to the coffee pot. And why leave the nasty spoon on the counter in the morning, so bunglogrl has to pry it up at the end of the day? At least put a napkin under it if putting a spoon in the sink or dishwasher is too difficult.

Oh, and don't use metal utensils in my nonstick pans.

Also, please stop leaving kitchen utensils in the back yard. We have two sets of long, sturdy barbecue utensils that will better withstand the elements for months at a time.

Condiments always say "refrigerate after opening" but I don't do that with a lot of them. I've never had ketchup go bad. I only refrigerate things like mayo, pickles, mayo based salad dressing and jelly. I never put bbq sauce, ketchup, mustard and things like that in the fridge.

I just thought of another one. I hate the trash under the sink.

Twist ties are a nuisance - I like those plastic thingies with the slit on one side better.

But rather than even use them, I twist the open end, then slip the empty end under the loaf when I put it down.

As for the s_it into the sink ... first remove the strainer, then hold face (or ... other end?) right over hole, turn on water ...

... and practice bombing!

He (I expect it's a he) who is dumb enough to miss ... (and it gets a lot tougher aiming if one's evacuating from the other end) ...

... gets a kick in the rump (or the leg, if the rump is out of reach - but kick less intensely, as they bruise more easily)! Wouldn't want to have you charged with abuse.

Plus ... if your house-mates have difficulty with words of over 4, or, at most, five, letters, try to think up a shorter synonym for "towel", make a big sign of that and hang it over the rack.

Then make another, "Rag" and hang it over the floor cloth.

Instructions may be indicated.

If not followed, probably indicated again.

On the third infraction, write out 50 times, "I will not use the Towel to mop the floor".

Fourth time, "I will *definitely* not use the towel to mop the floor!".

... cut a snippet of cheese, rub it on the end of your finger, rub some of the cheese on to the bit of food on the floor, which the dogs are disdaining ... and watch it disappear.

And ...if some of the encumbered dishes left improperly filed happen to be mugs ...

... get a metre-long piece of string, run one end through the handle of the mug, tie the ends ...

.. and hang the assembly around the neck of one of the offenders (it helps if you pick the correct one - but it should work even if not, though you're sure to get the, " ... not me!" argument)! (Indignantly? but, heck, you can out-indignant the offending critter, right)?

I don't run a very tight ship, so not a lot bothers me. But these do:

Bones scraped into the sink/garbage disposal side with food remains AFTER I told the kids "Bones in the trash, not the sink!" (We had chicken drumsticks tonight, this one is fresh on my mind.)

Someone dropping trash into a trashcan without a liner. I mean, I just turned my back for a second! If you can't manage to put the liner in and make yourself useful, at least wait for me to do it.

And the kids asking me 3 times *each* (3 X 4) "What's for dinner?" 1) I just told you. 2) You just heard me answer when your brother asked and 3) You are standing in the kitchen and can see the food on the stove. Which is why I start answering "Poop on a bun."

My husband deciding to cook in my freshly cleaned kitchen...not a pretty sight (the kitchen...not him!)

Kioni-My family has been eating Ketchup and mustard for 48 years un-refrigerated and they aren't dead yet!LOL I use to not refrigerate Miracle Whip and never had any ill effects from it.In dressings and condiments that contain eggs now days the eggs are pasturized so there isn't as much danger of going bad if not refrigerated.My DH took a lunch for years in one of those metal lunch pails,nothing to keep it cool.He worked in the heat all day and kept his lunch pail in the hot pickup.He always took bologna and cheese sandwiches with Miracle Whip.Sometimes I fried it sometimes not.I don't know how he kept from getting food poisoning!

I didn't think ketchup/mustard would stay good without being in the fridge either! I have always put them in the fridge.

I get annoyed when everyone is in the kitchen at the same time. Dogs- OUT! Husband, either chop something or move. I can't stand when he stands between me and sink, with one arm on this counter and the other on the island, totally blocking my way. Grrrr! MOVE! Stand out of the way! I will admit that I am glad he's not just sitting around waiting for his meal to be served, but just don't stand in the way, be useful.

And people who don't rewrap food- cheese will get hard if you don't close the bag or fold the foil. Lettuce will wilt if left in an open bag. Just common sense things are my pet peeves.

DH working out in the yard and using the kitchen sink to wash his dirty hands..ICK.. especially the mess he makes! I found a portable hand cleaning station at Home Depot, guess what he gets for his birthday this year?! Kathy

I thought the only condiments safe to keep in the cabinet was mustard and soy sauce. I keep all of mine in the fridge though.

Like Flamey I don't want to be visited with when I'm in the kitchen. I don't "get" open kitchens with seating at the counter for guests. I can't stand to have someone behind me while I work either.

The worst...catbox in a kitchen. I have a friend who has this. I love her dearly. I like her cats but I cannot accept food or drink in her kitchen.

My kitchen pet peeve is the KITCHEN. I hate kitchen work!

Everybody always needs to be in the kitchen the moment I start dinner. It's like they jump up and race me there. We don't have enough room for all of us in there, then add Ruby who wants to lie with her chin on my foot or stand with her flat face pressed up against my leg or her body squeezed between my legs and the cupboard. I have been home all day, why is she acting like she misses me??? LOL.

Dirty dishes in the sink. Dirty dishes are to be scraped and piled neatly on the counter above the dishwasher (if it is full of clean dishes) or loaded into the dishwasher. Also, if you run water into the sink and drop dishes into it, it can sit there until it ferments because I am NOT putting my hand in that water to even let the water out, let alone wash the dishes. I wash under hot running water, not tepid standing cesspool water.

I have a "thing" with mixing food and bathrooms or food and garbage cans. Our can is covered. Sometimes if DH is holding his plate of food and needs a free hand he rests his dinner plate ON THE GARBAGE CAN. Sometimes I manage not to shriek but it involves slapping my hand over my mouth tightly while my eyes bug out of their sockets.

Even after being scrubbed with bleach, a sink is a "dirty zone". Which means you can wash up in it, but you cannot put unprotected food in it. If I need to wash veggies I put the colander in the sink, veggies go in the colander. Never just into the bare sink. One time at brownie camp, one of the parents dropped the heads of lettuce into the sink to wash them, and was pulling leaves off them and piling them in the other side of the sink. I think my hair raised on end ROFLMAO.

Oh geez.. you had to get me started..when you put something in the micro and it explodes everywhere and you don't clean it up, when they put stuff back that has only a small amount because they are too lazy to walk 10 feet to the recycle bin, a full dishwasher and they don't empty, they just stack the dirty next to the sink. The kids are pretty good about putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher but these other things really peeve me! Dh is not the problem.. it's the children!

My pet peeve is when my family dilly-dallies and won't get to the table promptly when I tell them that dinner is ready. I find it so disrespectful when I've put in considerable effort to put a meal together, and then they can't be bothered to get there before it gets cold! Drives me nuts!

So many of these are my pet peeves too! I hate dirty dishes not put into an empty dishwasher, crumbs in butter, sticky jam or syrup bottles.

callieandkarin- My ex used to do that too! I would spend forever making a meal and then he would never come out to eat until I was done eating and his was cold. Even if I told him ten times to come eat. It used to make me soooo mad because it is so rude!

My DH insists on meals at certain times..like lunch at ll:30..but when I tell him at ll:25 that lunch will be in five minutes, I call him at ll:30 and he says "why didn't you tell me." Then it's another ten minutes before he and his helper get washed up, and lunch is cold. AARRGGHHH! Of course, by that time I've already eaten mine, fresh off the stove.

Leaving drawers or cabinets open so someone (me) walks into them. DH use to do that especially with drawers because he would say, "I am just getting out the can opener (or whatever) then putting it right back so why open and shut it twice." I fixed it with the new kitchen that has self closing drawers. Now if they only had cabinets that did that. (I have peripheral vision problems.)
