You can't tell real well in this photo, but the seats are made of huge boulders. The gravel has been covered with flagstone since this photo was taken. DH made the grill out of rebar.

It is raining right now, but here is a picture from the Day the HaleyFriends were here.

uxorial,

Yet another little area at your place. So Coo1!

I love seeing these pics, as we are planning for one, too! :-)

We sort of have one...but nothing nice...Last year Denny put a bunch of concrete block around where we burn it looked pretty nice until we had a BIG fire...the concrete blocks all turned a pinkish red color and crushed into dust....lol...

So ours is still just a scoop out of the ground. Maybe we'll try again this year...

But we do have fires out there a lot. And enjoy sitting around them cooking hot dogs or whatever.

We never have fires small enough to cook over.

We do our cooking on the grill or our chimnea. It has a grill that swings out to put the food on then we push it back inside.

Uxorial and Gayle, those are nice pictures, just what I had in mind. Uxorial love the boulders and flagstone would be wonderful. Gayle, your DH did a nice job with the blocks. Gosh, I want one. Thanks for the ideas.

Ron, you should know that we had a professional install our fire pit, as part of a long rock wall. There's no way you can move rocks that size by hand.

Here's a photo taken right after it was installed:

We have one, also.
Ours is made from boulders but not the size of uxorials. On ours the rocks are about basketball sized. The pit itself is about 5 feet across and 3 feet deep. I'd take a picture of it but it's under about a foot and a half of snow now.
