Wide island with butcher-block top- can Boos be joined??

I'd like to use back-to-back 24" base cabinets for our island, but with a nice overhang that makes the island top over 48". Just from looking on line it looks like the larges continuous piece of butcherblock material that John Boos makes is 48" wide.

Can a finish carpenter join two pieces together? I don't see why not, since it would be with the grain.

My husband works with wood and he expressed concern that any large piece of laminated wood like that (even the factory-made 48" wide x 60") would warp or cup over time as the wood tried to return to it's natural curved state.

I told hime I thought John Boos was a pretty widely respected company and that if their counters were warping, we'd have heard..... any thoughts?

Any thoughts on how the joint should be made, if this is feasible?

Anyone have a massive butcher block island and know how it holds up?

Thanks!!
