These aren't things "I" have to have... most of these came from a thread from about 3 years ago and I wanted to eliminate things that are unnecessary or overkill which I know is quite a few. Electrician already told me he uses Cat 5. You're right they were copied, that's why they don't make sense. As far as expense, if I pre-wire for many of these will that cut down a lot on the price initially? I should have added that in my first post. This is a whole house remodel and addition, and unfortunately we won't have a garage anymore, just a storage area, so the outlet for the extra refrigerator will be in the laundry room. I'm deleting extras now. I thought the 4 light switches were a bit much myself. Thanks for your help.

We are finishing our basement and have a woodburning fireplace that our builder finished out in the basement, all it needs is cosmetic facing. How can we have a gas starter installed to make it quicker and easier to get a wood fire going? I don't know who to call to do this work or if we can do it ourselves, though I think it may be illegal to work on our own gas lines without a license of some sort. Any advice?

My house has masonry fireplace (was burning wood long time ago) that has gas starter pipe. Shut off valve is on a side of fireplace and its all black pipe inside of fireplace. Now, since I donÂt have any wood but I do have a set of ceramic logs from vented gas logs I was wondering if I can put those on top of the wood burning grate (they fit very nicely) And run fireplace like that. I understand that esthetic would not be the same as in whole set of gas logs but I care more about safety then look. And then in case when I want to burn wood, just to take ceramic logs off grate and load wood logs on. Would that work and are there any safety concerns on this setup? I run fireplace no more than few times a year. Thanks for all comments and ideas.

Can't help, but when I briefly lived in Denver several years ago, there were many days when woodburning was banned because of weather conditions -- temperature inversions, I think. Is that still the case (I mean, w/ improvements in woodburning appliance emissions -- I'm guessing the temperature inversions are still a given)? I had a regular woodburning fireplace & didn't use it for that reason, but, had I stayed in the area, I probably would have gone w/ a gas insert (just reminiscing -- I really liked the Denver area)....
