Before cooking it? I read it somewhere and I want to try it one day this week.

I have a recipe for sour cream in cornbread, but I've never heard of cream cheese in it...

Debbie, it's in the 5th post down. AnnT says she used the Tarte au Sucre cake recipe for the dough and the cream cheese filling from the second recipe for the filling. AnnT is a marvelous cook and accomplished baker, I've never gone wrong with one of her recipes and I've been posting on the Cooking Forum for about 20 years along with her. Annie

What can I do with a 8 oz. pack cream cheese. Not a dessert.

Cheese Ball 8 oz. cream cheese 1/2 lb. sharp cheddar 1/2 C. chopped pecans 1 clove garlic mashed with 1/2 tsp. kosher salt 1 T. mayo MIx in blender. Chill. form into ball in roll in chopped nuts. Crab, cream cheese and chili sauce 8 oz. crab meat 8 oz. package cream cheese green onions sliced Sauce 1/2 C. chili sauce 1 tsp horseradish 1 tsp worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce 2 T. lemon juice 1 tsp chopped chives 1/4 tsp. parsley 1 tsp salt Spread cream cheese in small pie plate. Cover with crab meat. top with sauce. Sprinkle with green onions. Serve with triscuits. Christmas pudding (I don't know where this name came from but that's what we call it) 8 oz. cream cheese 1 pkg. chipped beef 1/8 sp. pepper 2 tsp. milk 2 tsp. minced green onions 1/2 C. sour cream Mix together and place in 8" pie plate. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Bake 350 for 15 minutes. Serve with crackers Beef Cheese logs 1 8 oz. cream cheese, softened 1 T.mayo 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 T. chopped green olives (I like to use jalapeÃÂ±o stuffed) * 1 T. minced parsley 1 tsp. finely chopped onions 1/2 C. finely snipped dried beef Blend cheese with mayo and worcestershire. Add olives, parsley and onion. On waxed paper, shape into two rolls 1 1/2" in diameter. Chill until firm. Roll in chopped dried beef. Serve with crackers. *Can use pimento stuffed olives, too. sooz, I know people complain about this on a couple of cake decorating websites that I frequent, and the consensus is that it's the powdered sugar, or the cornstarch in the powdered sugar, it seems to happen with a lot of different brands. The consensus, unfortunately, also seems to be that it can't be fixed completely, although a few people said that adding more cream cheese helped and one said she added cherry preserves and used the stuff as a cupcake filling that the preserves helped the texture too. Some said it got better when they re-whipped the frosting, they were blaming tiny little lumps of cornstarch. And it happened even when the powdered sugar was sifted, so that didn't appear to be of any help either. Good luck! Annie

I think I am going to try 1/4 tsp almond extract with the vanilla next time. If you add just a little almond extract so that you aren't sure if it is in the recipe or not, it will make cakes taste richer. I am making it again for my sister's birthday in a week. I sent her home with a sample after Thanksgiving dinner. She likes it too and suggested that for her birthday cake. Three years ago, she mentioned to me that she had not had a cake for her birthday since she left home in 1960. I was astounded, but I know her husband does not eat sweets, so I should have investigated. So now I bake a cake and bring it along when we celebrate her birthday with a girls' lunch out and gifts.

I also love cream cheese cornbread, so easy to do. make up your regular fave cornbread batter, pour half of it into your pan then drop dollups of soft cream cheese here and there in the pan, then pour the rest of the batter over that so the dollups are sandwiched in the batter, do not stir, bake as usual. When you bite in to the cornbread and hit a pocket of that warm cream cheese it is like heaven.

WOOT-WOOT...I found it! I knew I read it,but that's all I remember! lol RavenCajun mentioned it on this thread! I wasn't sure of the amounts...but looks like it's up to whoever's making the cornbread!!

I like to bake the Marie Callendar's corn bread mix and use sour cream for 1/2 the milk.

yes it was me I am the guilty party LOL you can use how ever much your heart desires LOL, I just cut up a regular "brick" into spoon size blobs and drop them in the cornbread batter that is in the pan then finish pouring the rest of the batter on top. Cook just as you normally cook your cornbread.
You can do this with the muffins too just put in half the muffin cup add a blob of soft cream cheese then add remaining batter. Sooo Good!

Thank You RavenCajun!!!! I would have never EVER thought of adding Cream Cheese to cornbread, but I love cornbread and I love cream cheese..so this has got to be a winner!!!

Everyone that I have suggested it to that tried it loved it, but you do have to love cream cheese of course and I do.
It is a very easy little addition and makes it special!
We love to do it that way when making it to go with home made chili.
