How to UNLIKE something on Face Book

Someone has put some pictures on my FB that I definitely don't want there. I know the person, and I want to remove the pictures but don't want to involve them in any conversation. I just want the pics gone.

I Googled and read that you just click UNLIKE there, but all I see is LIKE.

Clicking Unlike works only if you've already clicked Like. Hover your mouse over the upper right-hand corner of the picture (a little beyond the actual image). You should see some sort of symbol that will allow you to delete.

yes, scroll over the top right side of the post, a little arrow should appear, click that and it says if you want to delete the post, or even have all posts from that person not to show up on your page. They won't know you did it, unless they come and snoop around on your page. I have done it when some of the kids I am friends with start in with the F words in their posts. I just delete that post.

Happy Birthday Lance! Facebook is a great social networking tool. I connected with acquaintances, family and friends with whom I had little to no communication for a decade or more. I befriended several members on the Gardenweb Rose forums (after meeting them in person at the Heritage Roses Northwest event). MySpace is so yesterday! LOL! Facebook's default profile setting does not incorporate in-depth safety features to ward off pesky apps, spying on your footprints, insipid requests, etc.. You can get rid of these unwanted irritants by blocking and disabling various Facebook features without compromising on your user experience with networking. You can modify Facebook's default settings on your profile using the Settings option which is located on the right hand on the navigation bar at the top of the page (see the image below): Here's a useful article,10 Privacy Settings Every Facebook User Should Know which provides a wealth of information on protecting the privacy of your account on Facebook. It takes a bit of time to set iron-clad (or so we hope) safety features on Facebook that best suit your needs. It is worth the investment for your peace of mind. Do make sure to go back to your Settings options every few months to see if any additional safety features have been added. Hmm...this became a longer post than I intended. Ah well...I call it an "occupational disease"...my technical writing background. :) Do we have a Facebook group for Gardenweb Roses folks?

wow. sniff. You know Bill, I lost my mother about nine years ago now, and it was the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I remember when she was lying in the hospital bed, undergoing chemo that was a total waste of time, but we had to try, and family and friends always filled that room. They were laughing, and joking, and singing, and reminiscing. And I was PISSED. I was FURIOUS. How can these people be so happy when my mother is laying there dying!! I hated them. My own mother was having a wonderful time, and I couldn't understand because all I wanted to do was throw myself on her chest and just bawl my head off (jeez, I'm bawling as I write this). I just didn't get it. I even didn't speak to my mother's sister for a long time because she made some joke, at my mother's expense, that my mother found very funny, but I didn't. Anyway, fast forward to a few years later, and DUH, I got it. Luckily for me, I never DID throw myself on my mother and bawl (until after she was gone and before they took her away). I never let anyone know how angry I was, except my then fiance, who understood. He tried to make me understand of course, but I just couldn't. I was too wrapped up in ME and my pain. But I see it now. And it warms my heart to know that my mother's last days were made so happy and carefree, and just darnright SILLY. That she laughed so hard she cried with that stupid IV in her. That she didn't let the fact that she knew she was dying ruin her last three months (as I let it ruin mine). It's wonderful that some people recognize this before it's too late and do celebrate the life before it's gone. I learned this lesson the hard way. I'm so happy you were able to enjoy your mother's last days. I hope others will listen to this message, it is a beautiful one. Death is just a part of life, we need to get past our selfish reaction to it (justified and understandable though it may be) and remember the person who's dying and celebrate the time we had with them, before they're gone. I find FB to be more and more confusing. Some of my Friends posts show up in my newsfeed and others don't. However, if they are on one of my lists, I have to go to the list to see their comments. I can't figure out why some show up in newsfeed and others don't. Also, I answered some stupid question in a quiz (what shoes should Pioneerwoman wear with this dress?). Later, I looked at my account to see what the public can see, and there is the stupid quiz question and answer. I have my privacy settings so no one other than friends can see anything, so this is very annoying. I had to go back and unanswer the question to get rid of it. I wasted a lot of time tracking this down. All the fake FB emails go to my Spam filter, so that's not a problem. Jeez, why do I waste my time on stupid FB?

Did they know before boarding took place that they needed those "reserved" seats? If so, announce to the pre-boarding gathering that you need to have four folks agree to stay off this flight and go later ... who's willing to do that? Probably no one ... so you offer an incentive ... if still no takers, up the offer, until you get four to agree. If already boarded, same announcement ...and increased incentives, until four agree. Didn't someone say that this fellow had agreed to not go ... but then found no flight available that day, so boarded anyway ... which makes him the miscreant, in my view ... but, even so, no reason to treat him as they did. And whatever other parts of his lifestyle there may be aren't part of this equation, in my view. In the States, they have a Passenger Bill of Rights, I hear, and also in other countries ... but Canada has none, it appears ... (so reported by some who've been claiming such in the past few days ... and that it's time that we get one!!)! Hey, Canadians ... look up your M. P.'s phone number, O.K.? ole joyful ... who doesn't fly often

That did it!

Another question: did the person purposefully put those pics there or could they have just somehow showed up because we are Face Book friends? I can't believe it was done on purpose.

Cwnev, yeah, something like your situation.

I rebooted to be sure they were gone.

Thanks to both of you. I really don't like FB, but went on because two nieces in Texas asked me to, mostly to see their kids and grands. I never post anything.

Were you tagged in the pictures?

Or did the pictures just show up in your news feed since you are her friend? It would have appeared under her name.

They can post pictures on your wall also.

Iowagirl, I have to admit, I don't know exactly what tagged means, or news feed either. Of course I've seen those terms used, but never bothered to learn anything much about FB.

I do know who the person is because their picture shows up with that post and it is the one on their FB. They know I would not want anything like that on my FB, so that is why I wondered about how it got there.

All they have to do is "share" it with "friends" so if you are on her friend list her pictures that she shares w/friends will show up on your page. You can hide them, also using the same method.

Hi Sue-va

It's hard to keep up to date with Facebook, they're always changing things. A couple tips, On your Facebook page, clicking the word Facebook (at the top, left) or Home(top, right)will open up your news feed,it is the page with ALL the "news" posted by your friends. Clicking on your name (top, right)will bring up your timeline which has just the stuff you've posted and posts made directly to you from your friends. If you're interested the link below gives a lot of good information on Facebook, as well as tips for setting up the privacy controls account.

Dorothy Oahu, goldigger, Thanks for the info,

As I mentioned I don't like FB, so I haven't attempted to learn much about it. I like seeing the pictures and reading about the children, etc. When I want to make a comment I send an email. I don't think John Q Public needs to know anything about Franky's braces or Patty's prom dress.

Goldedger, I will follow your directions and do that. I have bookmarked the link and will get back to it after dinner.
