It is the first real weekend of summer and it should be hot and steamy here in Nebraska. We had our last t-ball game last night so that is done for the season. It was a ball watching Peyton and Rhiannon both playing, even though the bat was just about as big as Peyton was. Everything is up in my garden and can't wait until things are ready to eat out of it. The girls went home with my sis to "help" with the twins so it is just me and my guys this weekend. Need to play a little catch up around the house and also go through the girl's drawers and pull out the winter stuff yet.

DH wants me to get some chicken breasts to b-b-q this weekend. I hope it cools off enough so that I can get some banana and rhubarb bread made for the freezer.

Well my DH has just retired from the work force....it's been two weeks now. I have a long "honey do list" for him. LOL
I get up every morning thinking it's Saturday. LOL
This weekend we are going on a "Poker Run" on the motorcycle with the local HOG Club. Should be fun....BBQ at the end.
It's heated up here again; in the 90's
Other than that nothing planned.

In the 90s here too, Elery and I are going to visit his Dad and Stepmom in Ohio, we're leaving tonight. That'll take the whole weekend, we're going to Jungle Jim's on Sunday, back to his place on Monday, home on Tuesday.

I hate the heat but my new baby ducks are happy, so it's all good. The weeds are growing as fast as the garden is, that's bad. My "rental" bull is happy in the pasture, that's good. David is supposed to cut hay tomorrow and it's predicted thunderstorms. That's bad.

As usual, life is a pretty equal mix of good and bad, but it's a wonderful life anyway.

Linda, enjoy your weekend, and congrats to hubs on the retirement. It sounds like he'll be so busy he won't have time to miss work, LOL.

Stacie, enjoy your weekend with the guys. I remember my girls playing Little League and it was a blast, thanks for reminding me.

Good Morning, I hope Silver has a blast at her beach wedding. I'm sure she will be glowing at all of the compliments she will get on how GREAT she looks. I fixed shrimp scampi last night and baked me spaghetti squash to go with it while the others had regular pasta. I LOVE that stuff! It's like eating candy. I have to laugh at Aunt Bernice. She's been living with us a week today and has gained 4 pounds! I told y'all she eats constantly! She had 4, yes FOUR, cornbread muffins, slathered in butter, at dinner last night! After weighing and being surprised at her weight gain she said, "Oh, that's nothing. I'll go to the bathroom and lose that." She is such a trip! She can make a dead dog get up and laugh! Ek, doesn't that just tick you off? You work soooo hard to lose 1 pound and deviate once and gain back 2! Helen, We still don't know what happened to your foot. But, we like that you're still losing. Chicken dipped in gravy? How sweet is that? I'm with you on the cole slaw. LOVE the stuff. Jas, I had to laugh at you being sure you were 138. Boy, those scales are determined to like only what they like!!! Ohhhh, size 6 jeans. I remember those days. WAY TO GO, GIRL!!!!! I will check out that Slim in 6 when I can get motivated. Hello, my name is Lazy and I am a non-exerciser. And I'm hoping these "Exernon" meetings are going to help me. Peg and Karen, where are you? Harold, What can I say? You got us started on this journey and you are our "Bright and shining star" who keeps us focused and marching steadily toward our goal. Always encouraging and setting the right example. Alcohol to help HDL levels. Hmmmm.....interesting. What do you do if you are a non-drinker? I use some wine in cooking. But, not every day. Would like to know what his second favorite suggestion would be for us non-drinkers. Congrats on all of those good results. That's the best result of this journey. Health. Raining again today. A good day to clean closets and cook. It stopped raining yesterday long enough for me to FINALLY get around to cleaning the back deck, putting a few flowers in pots for the hummingbirds (still have about 10 empty pots, as well as about 8-10 at her house to bring over and fill), and cleaning and refilling the fountain. Now Aunt Bernice can sit at the sliding doors and watch the action. Next year I've GOT to learn how to successfully grow flowers from seed for all of those pots. This is getting way too expensive. Anyone have any suggestions for a fast grower I could direct sow in the pots now? We are zone 7. I just bought a pack of basil seeds. I'll try those. Dust BUNNIES! from Washington! Hi guys! Well, the couple we had over for dinner last night arrived 1/2 hour late and were quarreling and complaining about each other most of the night...short version is he's having a midlife and decided to stop working and forgot to tell her---! Now they'll have to sell their house (a villa, really) and downsize. She is SO mad at him---uh, I can see why. But it saddens us to see this happen. He says she works too much and he is lonely now that he's not working. We just listened and didn't offer advice. It seemed better that way. Anyway...we've having another couple over tonight and the wife just called and said they are haing problems too! He thinks she is too immersed with the children and her work and is not paying enough attention to him. We'll see how tonight's dinner goes....! DeeMarie~ I know what you mean about the cost of dinners. But it seems like everyone is so busy that if I don't have dinners, I'll never see my friends! :) I don't do the lavish thing any more, just low-key, but yummy foods and I am practicing with making appealing and attractive food presentations! Chives, rosemary, tomaotes, and red peppers are my friends there! It's pretty fun! BTW, how's your hair? AMY!!! I talked to a guy at the feed store and they have some cool, animal-friendly live-catch mousey traps. I'm picking a couple of on Monday and will get them in the mail to you on Monday afternoon. The guy there said peanut butter works well to lure them in to the "hotel." Then you can take the traps outside, away from your place, and set them free---unharmed! Raeanne~ Glad you got a firepit. I want one too! But I'll wait until we move to the island in 2008. Chimineas are very good to use around here because of all the rain---they crack when you use them when they're wet. Bah. Well, I guess that's all for me...for now...

Hi everyone!!! I didn't step on the scale this morning...oops. Will do it when I get home. But just wanted to say good morning to you all! Still not back on my diet, or exercise regime. But worked in the yard for 12 hours on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Yes, we finished at 10pm on Sunday...had the spotlights out and everything! I figure pushing a wheelbarrow full of concrete for two hours should be better calorie burning than anything else I could do!! Will weigh tonight :) Skinny (goal-jeans) are still able to be zipped and buttoned but are not comfortable. Still want to target my hips/thighs area. But, all other clothes are fitting great, which I feel is the real testimony to weight loss rather than the actual poundage. Also, many are recognizing my weight loss. And they want to know my secret... LOL! 1. Eat fewer calories (not less food!!!) 2. Burn more calories Of course, it can't be that simple, but it is. One of my office mates started her low-carb diet at the same time, but does not exercise very much, and deprives herself of food so is hungry and binges. Also, does not count calories... hmmm... six months later, she's still the same weight. She offered me her low-carb cookbook, but with recipes in there that call for six tablespoons of butter I declined. :)

Good evening! It's 86 F. and the mosquitoes had a nice dinner on me - literally! I have bites on my face and on my hands and knees. All the fun spots that I can't resist scratching in my sleep. Donna, I'm so sorry for all you're going through. Be strong and post more often for lots of (((hugs))). Jan, I have severe osteoporosis and have been on Fosamax for 6 years with good results. I'll never be perfect, but my bones are stronger than they were at 55. I also take two calcium tabs every night before bed. Raeanne, I really hope my son loves this birthday gift. In the last few years, I've taken the safe way out and just gone with a GC. And, I didn't make it to Dallas after Christmas this past year, so my sister and decided to just wait until this weekend to exchange gifts. I don't usually wait quite this long! Still lots of packing to do. I keep thinking of things like sheets and spring rods to take to my Dson for when they move into their new home in late August. That's what I used until we got our window coverings, and it was helpful. I also need to take Alexis's (9 yr. old DGD) books to her that she forgot last visit. I haven't seen her in a month, and I really am excited to see her tomorrow night when she flies in from AL and visiting my xh and his wife. Guess I'd better get back to it because experience has taught me that nobody else is going to do my packing for me! Have a great rest of the week!

I will probably be doing the same thing this weekend that I have been doing about the last three weeks. Taking lunch and dinner to the field. They would have been finished with our wheat but a neighbor got sick and is hospitalized, so some of the farmers pulled out of their wheat and went yesterday and today to finish cutting his wheat.

Annie, sounds like will have a nice long weekend. Enjoy Jungle Jims.

Linda, my DH has a harley also but it has been awhile since we have been on a poker run. Have fun and don't get to hot.

Stacie, my little soon to be 5 yr. old grandson finished tball a few weeks ago. At their first game he was on third base and the coach told him to run home. He stopped and asked the coach if he wanted him to run all the way to his house. We thought maybe he needed to learn a little baseball terminology!

I am going to a tomato festival sat to meet a forum member who hangs out at the "kitchen table".Hopefully will get some good tomatoes and produce.

TGIF everyone! It was a perfect day here...75, sunny and a breeze. We spent the day in the garden. Another day and I'll be caught up from my three-week wrecked knee 'vacation'. I'll be back at it after work tomorrow.

We picked up a side of beef the other day and I hear a big fat grilled Porterhouse calling my name. But first, a shower. DH says I smell like fish emulsion, lol.

Lpink came to visit! We had a wonderful day chatting, visiting the local farmers market, and even doing a little canning. I am such a novice it was supre to have her hear to guide me through the intricacies of Apricot CHutney. We also made some awesome pickled asparagus... all the evidence is on the thread called "We Be Jammin".....

It is thunderstormy right now, so no "Dive in Movie" at the local pool tonight. Tomorrow will be our annual Fantasy Football picnic to discuss rule changes that are upcoming and Sunday is going to be a day in the garden again. I really need to get the mulch down in the full sun beds........
