Amazing Race tonight! 1-20-08

Hi Kids!

OK...this is it! The final Amazing Race is on tonight! I'm looking forward to it but at the same time...after tonight, it will be all over ;(

We have the football issue tonight, so check your times.

I'm not sure who I would like to see win. Any of the three teams left would be fine with me. I guess it's just too bad that only one team can win. I like them all.

I'm getting all prepared and it's still over 2 hrs away!! Then after it's over, I'll have that little bit of letdown feeling, knowing it won't be on again until fall. I'll get over it though as I think Survivor comes back on in about 2 wks.

It's sooooooooooooooooo lonely in this forum........ Someone open a curtain and LET SOME LIGHT IN!!!! The sun is half-heatedly shining here today. No snow. How 'bout those presidential candidate primaries? Huh? GUUUUUURL POWER.... and the good ole Mac boy network rides again. NHSuzanne, was your town voting center a madhouse last night? Back to packing....and juicing! I end all project in "and juicing" now...lol. I bought a couple of books on de-cluttering...I tossed my other decluttering books when I was decluttering last time...so I am re-inspired, especially since I am packing for the move NOW. It's time to really assess how much material stuff I need to operate in this life. So far, It's been pretty amazing how many pairs of boots I NEED! And I packed an entire box of books regarding death. I'm wondering how Feng Shui fits into THAT! I feel like I should have put a stick of sage incense or a flute cure in that box or something. Oh, I heard a funny thing in the island bookstore last weeknend. A lady went to the cash wrap to buy her books and the guy said, "Are you from here...or are you visiting?" She answered, "I'm from HERE, but just visiting..........earth." Now I know there are a LOT of hippies on the island, but this sort of took the cake for me. Whilst I was there, I bought a book called, "GIVING...How Each Of Us Can Change The World." Gonna start reading it tonight. What's everyone else HERE reading right now???????? I could ramble on quite a bit more, but I feel I should let someone else get a word in, eh?

Yes, Rob & Amber were on TAR the same season when Joyce & Uchenna won it. Rob & Amber rightfully should have won. They were seated on the airplane for the final flight back to the USA, and the door was shut and latched. The plane was being pushed back, away from the terminal. It was a US carrier (American Airlines, to be exact), and United States airline rules include that when the door is latched, it is NOT to be opened again until it lands at its destination. Joyce & Uchenna were whimpering in the airport because the next possible flight would have put them a couple of hours behind Rob and Amber. And, I guess the producers felt it wouldn't be all that exciting if there wasn't a battle to the finish line. So, Joyce and Uchenna were allowed on the flight. Say what you will about Rob and Amber, but they really played the game well. They didn't fight and bicker, and Rob was/is a lot smarter than folks give him credit for. An example -- one of the tasks was to take several (six?) hundred books from a store to a library. One small handcart was all they could use, and they had to walk the books clear across the town they were in. Rob was smart -- he methodically stacked the books so that all of them fit on the cart in one trip. ALL of the other teams had to make at least two trips to get all of the books to the destination. Joyce & Uchenna's reason for going on the show was that their marriage was on the rocks; they had pretty much determined to split up, but decided that they should have a baby to try to save their marriage. (In my opinion, that's the WORST reason to have a baby....) They wanted to win the money so they could go afford to go through a round of in vitro. What they didn't say, but what had been published during the show, was that their fertility doctor had already offered to give them an in vitro attempt at no charge. For those who watched that season, you may remember how Joyce and Uchenna were stripped of all their money at the previous pit stop because they'd come in last and it was a nonelimination leg. So, when they took the taxi ride to the final, winning, pit stop, they didn't have the money to pay the cab driver. They had to beg the locals for money. When questioned about it after the show, Uchenna claimed "it was a matter of honor" to pay the cabbie. Nuh-uh. It's a show RULE that teams cannot break any local law, and stiffing a cab driver would be doing just that. Only if the cabbie agreed to let them go without paying, or agreed to lower the fare, could they get away without paying the full fare. And the cab driver wanted to be paid. In full. Anyway, they won the million bucks, went through a failed in vitro, and split up. They got back together again to go on the show a second time when they did an all-star version. And they again said they wanted to win the money to pay for more in vitro, or to adopt a child, to try to save their marriage.

I'm happy with the outcome but disappointed in the lack of any real challenge in this leg. Having the leg in LA sure gave one team the advantage. I'm pretty sure the producers knew that both girls lived there for four years and one still does. The whole thing was pretty predictable. I prefer the previous seasons where the last challenge had one sitting at the edge of their seat wondering who would get it done.

I don’t ever watch Survivor, but was happy to see AR back to the format of using ’regular’ people and not celebrities as participants. I think the reason it seems to drag for the first coiple of episodes is the continual introduction of the contestants. they seem more focused on you knowing their backgrounds than what is happening.

It didn't matter to me, who won, as I liked all three teams.

Oh Glenda...you are right! It didn't matter who won. All three teams were great!

The ending was exciting and wonderful!

Oh, wow! The last leg of the race was soooo cool. I would love to have done it myself. Except for the fish gutting. The Glacier Climb and the Helicopter ride over Alaska. Wow, what a treat.

I like that everyone came out smiling saying what a wonderful experience it was. Everyone grew closer. What a good group.

What an amazing memory to have done the Amazing Race with your Father or your Grand Father. How cool is that. But, the couple did wonderfully. The Hippies Won and they were awesome, sweet and adorable through most of the race.

Can't wait to see it either, it starts in 9 minutes here! Just so you all are aware, we don't all see it at the same time so it might be nice if people were able to keep their comments about who won until the next day...

I loved the fact that nice people finished in the top three places. Just proves that you don't have to be at each others throats every week to win. Good season ending.

Great ending,

To come from behind as they did last week, made them deserving of winning the final leg.

Did anyone else see the winners get their $million on Good Morning America this morning?
I was hoping TK had cut his hair but he hadn't. They tried to get him to propose on the spot to Rachel, but all he would say is he couldn't imagine not having her in his life, so I think they have a good future.

Watching that show is like having a free trip around the world while sitting in your living room.
Can't wait to see the next season.

Yes it was very good, despite the fact that I knew the ending as I sat down to watch - bad, Gayle..LOL - no big deal as I was hoping TK and Rachel would win, so I was very happy to know they were first to the mat.
Couldn't believe that with that much money on the line Nic and Don wouldn't pay attention to their clue so they knew to pick up that bag at Outfitters...they were very lucky to catch up as well as they did.

OH My...I really HATE that the Amazing Race has come to an end...I will miss it, but WHAT A GREAT ENDING! TK & Rachel won in a very close and exciting race to the finish mat.

I thought the challenges were good ones. Too bad that the Grandson messed up the reading of the clue at the sports store. Having to go back for the bag of supplies they forgot really messed them up. It seemes like they could have been in second place at that point, ahead of TK & Rachel, if they had not made that rather huge error. Fish guts, yuck, but it seemed that both teams found the little clue inside the fish cavity very quickly. TK & Rachel found the crab with the clue band just in the nick of time...before giving up and going back to the fish gut.

Climbing the ice wall was OK. The Father and Grandfather did it well. TK & Rachel both did well but, both the Grandson and Christine had a hard time with it. Then the beautiful hellicopter ride across Alaska...what a thrill for all of them. Even at this point all three teams were close. It was the final challenge that they had to figure out that was the killer. I was so confused by it. I did not pay attention to the directions so I had no idea what they were trying to accomplish. I thought Christine would make short work of it, but she got bogged down. Rachel stayed calm and was able to figure it out first.

TK & Rachel were on CBS Early Show this morning. They were cute and just like they had been all during the Race. They won a MILLION DOLLARS! They did not show any other teams.

This was a good race. This was the first one I remember that all the teams were likable...except for Jen & Matt. I remember that I did not like the first couple that was eliminated...they were mean to their donkeys. and that one girl who was soooo annoying while trying to get the camel milk...but other than that, everyone else was just fine. Or, am I forgetting someone. Oops...I forgot about the Blonds. They were not very nice.

It's all over...till the next one starts...
